Diagnosis was made by Antigen Detection ELISA and Pathogen Isolation on cell culture
(Kimron Veterinary Institute).
Immediate movement control and quarantine were applied and revaccination of all the
susceptible animals in a radius of 10 kms was effectuated.

susceptible animals in a radius of 10 kms was effectuated.
Lumpy Skin
Disease
ALUMIM, First outbreak in 2007. Hadarom region, Beer Sheva district, 34.51 longitude,
31.45 latitude.
The outbreak occurred in a milk herd. The affected animals were milking cows. Typical
clinical signs as lumpy skin and fever have been observed in the affected animals. Drop of
milk in the affected cows have been observed a few days before the skin symptoms
appeared.
The herd was vaccinated with sheep pox vaccine on January 2007.
Susceptible – 485. Cases – 41. Deaths – 0. Destroyed – 41.
Diagnosis was made by immunohistochemical test and polymerase chain reaction (PCR)
(Kimron Veterinary Institute).
Immediate movement control and quarantine were applied and revaccination of all the
susceptible animals with sheep pox vaccine in a radius of 10 kms was effectuated.

OR HANER, Second outbreak in 2007. Located 14 kms from ALUMIM, the first
outbreak which started two weeks earlier. Hadarom region, Beer Sheva district, 34.60
longitude, 31.56 latitude.

The outbreak occurred in a free grazing herd. The herd was vaccinated with sheep pox
vaccine about six months before the outbreak. Additional beef herd and milk herd are
located some hundred meters from the affected herd. No animals showed clinical signs in
these adjacent herds. Typical clinical signs as lumpy skin have been observed in the
affected animals. The nodules on the skin appear to be smaller than in the milk herd.
Susceptible – 100. Cases – 32. Deaths – 0. Destroyed – 32.
Diagnosis was made by clinical signs. Immunohistochemical test and polymerase chain
reaction (PCR) (Kimron Veterinary Institute) are in process.
Immediate movement control and quarantine were applied and revaccination of all the
susceptible animals with sheep pox vaccine in a radius of 10 kms was effectuated.
Newcastle disease HOSEN, HaTsafon region, Acco district, 35.30 longitude, 33.00 latitude.
New outbreak in a flock of table egg layers.
Susceptible – 4,400. Cases – 100. Deaths – 20. Destroyed – 4,380.
The diagnosis was made by clinical symptoms, Post Mortem, PCR, virus isolation and
serology tests. Immediate culling and burying was applied. Serologic and clinic
surveillance and a quarantine of 3 km radius have been carried out.

The outbreak occurred in a new flock of broilers.
Susceptible – 28,460. Cases – 3,000. Deaths – 1,000. Destroyed – 27,460.
The diagnosis was made by clinical symptoms, Post Mortem, PCR, virus isolation and
serology tests. Immediate culling and burying was applied. Serologic and clinic
surveillance and a quarantine of 3 km radius have been carried out.
Newcastle disease KALLANIT, HaTsafon region, Kineret district, 35.45 longitude, 32.88 latitude.
The outbreak occurred in two different flocks in broilers. In this settlement, two flocks of
broilers were affected in January 2007.
Susceptible – 83,840. Cases – 4,000. Deaths – 3,000. Destroyed – 80,840.
The diagnosis was made by clinical symptoms, Post Mortem, PCR, virus isolation and
serology tests. Immediate culling and burying was applied. Serologic and clinic
surveillance and a quarantine of 3 km radius have been carried out.
