EREZ, Continuation of the outbreak reported on July. Hadarom region, Beer Sheva
district, 34.57 longitude, 31.56 latitude.
The outbreak occurred in a free grazing herd. The herd was vaccinated with sheep pox
vaccine about six months before the outbreak. Typical clinical signs as lumpy skin have
been observed in the affected animals. There is a milk herd nearby which was not affected
in July but symptoms appeared in the middle of August.
Beef herd (No new cases in September):
Susceptible – 171. Cases – 94. Deaths – 0. Destroyed – 94.
Milk herd (5 new cases in September):
Susceptible – 500. Cases – 25. Deaths – 0. Destroyed – 25.
Diagnosis was made by clinical signs. Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) (Kimron
Veterinary Institute) is in process.
Immediate movement control and quarantine were applied and revaccination of all the
susceptible animals with sheep pox vaccine in a radius of 10 kms was effectuated.

Ashkelon district, 34. 56 longitude, 31.50 latitude.
The outbreak occurred in a free grazing herd (10 new cases in September).
Susceptible – 328. Cases –19. Deaths – 0. Destroyed –19.
Diagnosis was made by clinical signs and polymerase chain reaction (PCR) (Kimron
Veterinary Institute).
Immediate movement control and quarantine were applied and revaccination of all the
susceptible animals with sheep pox vaccine in a radius of 10 kms was effectuated.
