What is
Mini-Scrapbox?
Mini-Scrapbox is one of roughly
100 Scrapstores in the country. It
collects and stores a wide variety
of materials, mainly donated by
companies, that can then be REUSED in the community by drama
& music workshops, clubs,
schools and playgroups, for arts
& crafts, design technology, etc.
These materials are valuable play
and art/craft resources.
Mini-Scrapbox is a registered
charity, (number 1050261), run
exclusively by 7 or 8 unpaid
volunteers including the secretary
Jim Elliott.

Tubing, Calendars, Wallpaper
etc
 Fabrics: large selection,
various sizes, patterns,
textures and colours.
 Zips, Reels of Cotton & Wool,
Foam, Wood, Plastic
 Paint brushes and rollers
 We can get one of a thing or
1,000, and regularly obtain
fresh resources to stimulate
experimentation
 Companies & Businesses by
taking away “waste” which is
costly to dispose of.
Cost
 The Environment by reusing rather than recycling,
which is more environmentally
damaging.
has a wide variety of resources:
To register with Mini-Scrapbox is
£8.00 a year and members then
pay affordable amounts for the
chosen materials.
 Local community groups
and organisations by
offering a diverse range of
materials so they can afford to
experiment. Once a member,
you can use us as often as you
wish.
 Children, by enabling them to
fully use their imagination and
develop their creative skills.
We are working to become
fully sustainable,
(independent of grants), and
need new members to join
and use our service annually.
Play is: sticking, designing,
cutting, drawing, folding… in
fact whatever you want play to be.
Play is important to everyone:
 Young people learn through it.
 Older people share their play
experiences with younger people.
OUR AIM IS TO
MAXIMISE RE-USE AND
MINIMISE WASTE
We believe in making
waste things into play things.
The resources that scrapstores offer at
low cost enable play to happen;
1) affordably
2) experimentally, participating with
others
3) indoors and outdoors
Moreover: as we hate wastefulnessthrough sharing what otherwise would go
into landfill, we might help influence
businesses to agree on new, greener
environmental policies.
Mini-Scrapbox has worked with the PreSchool Learning Alliance in Norfolk for
several years. We have also worked with
the National Childminders Association,
schools, Guides and Scouts and craft
groups, just to name a few.
We have one world.
We are consuming for three
worlds.
By re-using, we maximise the
life of existing resources.
