POSITION CONTEXT
The Royal Commission Implementation Office has been
created to lead and coordinate the co-operation of South
Australian agencies and work with the South Australian
Working Group which was convened in late 2012 to
consider issues related to the Royal Commission into
Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse.
The Project Director, Royal Commission Implementation
Office will take a leadership role in co-ordinating, consulting
and providing strategic intergovernmental responses to the
Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child
Sexual Abuse. This is a senior role reporting to the Chief
Executive, Attorney-General's Department

Key Relationships / Interactions
The Project Director will be required to develop effective
working relationships with:
 Office of the Chief Executive;
 Outposted Legal Counsel of the Crown Solicitor’s Office
 South Australian Government Working Group
responding to the Royal Commission
 Ministerial officers;
 Other government agencies
 Relevant external stakeholders.
Key Challenges
Ensuring the Royal Commission Implementation Office
achieves its targets, goals and objectives in co-ordinating
and responding to the Royal Commission into Institutional
Responses to Child Sexual Abuse on behalf of South
Australian agencies.
Effective management of across government relationships,
external parties including working closely with the Royal
Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual
Abuse staff, while ensuring key departmental interests are
satisfied.

Key Outcomes
 Provide leadership to and manage the Royal
Commission Implementation Office in an efficient and
effective manner.
 Provide high level advice and support to the Chief
Executive, Attorney-General's Department on all matters
relating to the Royal Commission into Institutional
Responses to Child Sexual Abuse
 Provide a central point of contact for South Australia to
the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to
Child Sexual Abuse;
 Liaise with the Royal Commission in relation to the South
Australian equivalent to the Letters Patent and
legislation, as necessary;
 Provide a central repository to respond to records or
information requests, including policy submissions to the
Royal Commission on behalf of South Australian
agencies, as necessary;
 Co-ordinate legal representation for South Australian
agencies and officials, as necessary;
 Consider and provide advice to Cabinet (including
consulting with other South Australian agencies) on
resource and funding implications for agencies as they
become clearer; and
 Consider and provide advice to Cabinet on any
recommendations that may come out of the Royal
Commission.

Technical Knowledge and Expertise
Experience in parliamentary inquiries, complex complaints
handling or extensive review or investigation of government
processes at a State level; or experience/knowledge or
understanding of Mullighan Inquiry (Commission of Inquiry
(Children in State Care and Children on the APY Lands
Inquiry);
An expert working knowledge of the Freedom of Information
(FOI) Act 1991, and Information Privacy Principles (IPPs),
State Records Act 1997 and adequate records management
practices in Government;
An intricate knowledge of the internal workings of
Government Departments;
An understanding of, experience in and / or the ability to
manage to the spirit and principles of the Premier’s Safety
Commitment and the legislative requirements of the
Occupational Health Safety and Welfare Act, utilising
AS/NZS 4360 Risk Management, or to an equivalent set of
standards.
