A 1/16” scale to the old tobacco
baskets once seen at the tobacco
warehouse on sale day. The old
4’x4’ baskets are gone and bales
have replaced them. This basket
will hold a 10” square plate to
use as a fruit or vegetable
holder.

The little necklace is made with
Bleached Hamburg Cane and Waxed
Linen. Students will have many color
choices of waxed linen and will learn
my techniques for weaving small
baskets. The necklace is twined and
there will be several options for rims.
Neck cord, beads for embellishing,
waxed linen and Hamburg cane for 3
necklaces will be provided. Students
should bring a small, sharp packing
tool and scissors. A personal light will
be helpful.

beginner basket and the addition

Learn to coil with waxed silk
threads to create this neat
gourd/basket. Emphasis in class
will be on hand skills, facets of
coiling, neatness, tension and over
all look. Gourd will be totally
prepared for you to have fun
with.

This basket is a necessity for bird lovers
everywhere. Designed for my friend
JoAnn, it will hold 5 pounds of birdseed.
Woven bottom and uses a plastic mold
which becomes part of the finished
basket. You also have a pocket for your
scoop, which is included. The rim is nontraditional. The basket is woven with
over under weaving, braided seagrass
and twined seagrass. It is embellished
with two rustic bird picks.
Custom fit to your Wrist
Careful placement of color creates the
block pattern for this wood bottom
tote. Basic weaving techniques are
used. Bright colors of pink, lime green
and aquamarine reed along with
choice of pink or lime green handles
compliment each other. The
decorative fabric tie and flower
embellishment finish off this summer
tote.

Using wire and a dowel you will learn a
unique looping technique that dates back
to the Viking era. Accent with a Pandora
style bead. Complete this bracelet using a
draw plate and a wire wrapping technique
to add the cones and clasp. Draw plates
will be available for purchase. A personal
Ott type light can be helpful.

The basket is woven with hand
pounded black ash. The slotted rim,
lid and handles are American
cherry. This basket is the size and
type a traveling salesman would
have carried to represent the actual
full sized basket. The three piece lid
is assembled for you. Just weave up
the basket, attach the rim, and
place the lid. The handles are
attached with brass screws.
This little cutie is woven on an
elliptical oval base with
contrasting black & natural reed.
Techniques include: triple
twining, 4-rod wale, twill weaving
and double lashing with waxed
linen. It is finished off with black
craft wire button.
Black & Natural Only
Weave a small wooden bottom pail
with riveted swing handle in fall
colors. It incorporates a triple
twine weave and two color spokes
for a transitional look between the
bottom and top. Decorative
stoneware is included.

This basket is woven over a class
mold to ensure a great shape.
Students will insert flat and round
reeds spokes into an oval slotted
wood base. Techniques include
triple twining, ridge weave, and
over/under weaving. This basket is
a challenge to get started, but gets
easier as you weave.
Natural and smoked reed will be
used.

Cabot Mills has a totally woven
bottom to the basket. Shaping is an
important key to weaving Cabot
Mills straight. The design is done
after weaving. There will be color
choices available. The handles are
flexible leather and will be made in
class.

Color placement, a striking Fibonacci
twill, and great shaping create this
beautiful, large basket. We begin with a
hardwood base and wide stakes. The wide
stakes are chosen for sturdiness and are
split to enhance the design and encourage
shaping. The basket is finished with a
hand-carved white oak handle and is set
off with a heavy duty 5/8” half round
outer rim. Shaping will be stressed.

Using the classic oval “bowl shape”,
this basket will evolve into a “one-of-akind” piece by incorporating
interesting branches or driftwood into
its form. You will learn basic willow
techniques of shaving and scalloming
and creating the bowl shape, then how
to incorporate the gathered branches
into the weaving so that it becomes an
intrinsic part of the basket.

Large Williamsburg has a Square
woven Oak ‘herringbone’ bottom
and a large round top, the handle is
also made of White Oak. I will
share with the class all things
concerning White Oak from how I
select my trees, how I prepare the
wood, making it suitable for
weaving to the Owens method of
rimming.

Beginning on a slotted wood base,
students will triple twine with a stepup. The challenge will be fitting &
binding a tooled leather collar to this
unique basket. It is trimmed with a
full Gretchen rim. Basket features
custom oak & black walnut handle.
If you want to make peach with
Gretchen, this class is for you.
This dark green cat head has an over
two pattern that spirals up around the
basket. A round notched handle with
extra long ears is attached to the
basket with a God’s Eye that
continues on t lash the rim of the
basket. Shaping will be emphasized.

Charleston Basket, are coiled of

A new contemporary look to
show in a stand or setting on the
beaded foot, either way its eye
catching. Twine with 7 ply
waxed linen and a combination
of beads, finishing with one of
Linda’s new rims. Emphasis will
be on technique, tension, and
shaping while weaving. Linda
will demonstrate and teach you
her techniques to weave this
beauty.
Now there is a new twist to the
Cottage Pencil Basket. Have some
fun with curling. The basket is
woven over a mold with hand
pounded black ash weavers.
Flared cherry handles and prebent rims, give this basket a
distinctive look.
Another eye-catching miniature to
add to your collection! Working
with black ash, students will begin
by weaving a crosshatch base in
black and a contrasting color.
From here the basket will
transition into a double walled
basket; the inside basket is woven
in black and the outside is woven
with the contrasting color in a
lacey diagonal weave. A double
lashed double rim tops the basket.
To aid in shaping this miniature
basket is woven on a mold.

twining with seagrass and lacing

embellished with this adorable
burlap flower. Color choices will
be offered.

The Cheochee is woven in a 1-3-5
Cherokee twill technique of the
Chief’s Daughter and the Man in
the Coffin. It represents the Trail
of Tears. The handle rim
combinations is woven in a flowing
motion around the basket rim.
