Qualifications summary

Successful completion of the WO CLM v3 course has been accredited by CMI at three different, but linked, qualifications:

CMI Level 6 Diploma in Management and Leadership (QCF)

CMI Level 5 Award in Management Coaching and Mentoring (QCF)

CMI Level 7 Certificate in Strategic Management and Leadership (QCF)

The award of these qualifications demonstrates comprehensive knowledge, understanding and potential as a manager and leader.

CMI Level 6 management and leadership qualifications are designed to improve personal management capabilities through effective decision making and strategic leadership. Level 6 qualifications portray practical management and leadership skills and competencies that are, in academic terms, comparable to

Bachelor ’s Degrees, Graduate Certificates and Diplomas.

CMI level 7 management and leadership qualifications are developed for senior managers responsible for translating organisational strategy into effective performance. Level 7 qualifications portray practical management and leadership skills and competencies that are, in academic terms, Masters Degrees, and

Postgraduate Certificates / Diplomas.

Overview: Qualification Options

Option 1: No additional work required .

By completing the WO CLM08 v3 course you have met the criteria to be accredited with the CMI Level 6 Diploma in Management and Leadership (QCF) to a total of 62 QCF Credits

(see Table 1 below). You may enrol for this option using the CMI Registration Form, Option 1.

Option 2: Additional work required . You will have noted from Table 1 (see below) that you may elect to take the additional Unit 6007 which would give you the following advantages: a. Demonstrating your achievement of Unit 6007 - ‘Managing ideas and innovation’. This is an important attribute for the manager and leader and is an essential business requirement by both the private and public civilian business sectors so it is valuable for service use and in seeking civilian employment in the future. b. You will gain 69 QCF credits. c. You may be able to claim your Standard Learning Credits by taking this additional unit (speak to your

ETS staff).

Option 3: Additional work required . This is a CMI Level 5 Award in Management Coaching and

Mentoring (QCF) (see Table 2 below). You may register for this qualification as a ’stand alone’ qualification or in combination with any of the other Options. You will be required to take the CMI External Assessment for unit 5014

‘Introduction to management coaching and mentoring’. You may enrol for this qualification option using the CMI Registration Form, Option 3. (If combining with Options, also tick your other Option boxes as relevant.)

The CMI External Assessment for Unit 5014 MUST be taken for the award of this qualification.

Option 4: Additional work required . This Is a CMI Level 7 Certificate in Strategic Management and

Leadership (QCF) at 32 QCF Credits. Several of the units accredited in this qualification are evidenced throughout the WO CLM course through observation of skills, questioning and during practical assessment of performance exercises. Completion of the external assignment for unit 7021

“Introduction to Strategic

Management and Leadership” will augment any written assessments that do take place on the course by providing important further evidence of a more comprehensive knowledge and understanding at Level 7.

The units in this Level 7 certificate qualification will provide an excellent springboard for a subsequent Level

7 Diploma which would be a useful pre-requisite for a Masters Degree.

Registration and Costs

You have an 18-month window of opportunity, from date of course completion, to register for either of these qualifications. You may select more than one qualification by annotating the relevant option boxes on the registration form. The total cost to you will be the sum of your selected options. Completing an externally assessed assignment should make SLC eligible; please seek advice from your local Learning Centre.

Register using the registration form on the CMI web, which you can download and either fax or post to the

CMI (details on the form). Visit the web www.managers.org.uk/mod and click on CMI qualifications . Then scroll down to, and click on, Army CLM 08 v3. Scroll down the table to the WO row and click on Download factsheet and Download registration form . Please complete the registration form in conjunction with this factsheet. Don’t forget to provide evidence that you have successfully completed your training, and the remittance.

Acquiring the Completion Pack

You will need username and password to download the Completion Pack, provided with complementary studying membership as part of the registration procedure. Once registered, you can re-enter the web site and click on Download completion pack . This will prompt you for your username and password and then it will open for you to download. You have 9-months to complete the assignment; please contact CMI (see below) if you are experiencing problems meeting this deadline.

If no work is submitted and there is a no work option available CMI will default the qualification to the respective ‘no additional work required’ option and will not reimburse the assessment fee. Allow a minimum of 9 weeks from submission of your assignment, assuming a pass, for receipt of certification.

Continuing Professional Development (CPD)

These qualifications can be built upon to add further units and so present an excellent opportunity for

Continuing Professional Development. As they are registered on the national Qualifications Credit

Framework (QCF) they are readily recognised by civilian organisations.
