B. Career Plan of Study Process Timeline
Purpose


Provide an education/career planning tool
Develop self-awareness
7th and 8th Grade






Teacher teams will administer the EXPLORE in October
Seventh Graders will attend GEMS (Girls/Guys in Engineering, Math, Science)
Students will learn about the 16 Career Clusters
7th and 8th grade students will explore careers using Career Cruising; printed results will be
placed in Career Plan of Study folder
Using information from Career Cruising and Explore results, students will complete the 9th
grade pre-enrollment process
Forms/folders will be transferred to the high school counselors with labels in alpha order (ID#
and last name, first name)
High School Counselors 9-12th grade

9th: Kansas Career Pipeline, Freshmen Success class
10th:
11th: ACT, SAT, PSAT, Compass, College Planning Conference, GCCC Exploration Day
12th: ACT, SAT
Counselors facilitate the completion of each student’s plan
Counselors conduct the pre-enrollment process
Counselors discuss credit checks and post high school planning information with Juniors and
Seniors
Counselors assist students in continued exploration/investigation of career clusters
