It contains information for you and your parents to read regarding our expectations of members of the ASB at Prospect High School. We believe it is best for student leaders to know what is expected of them before they choose to run for office. As an ASB officer, you will be a student leader on campus and a visible role model. If you are successful in your application for office, you must maintain high standards of conduct, attendance, and school spirit during your tenure in ASB. You must be willing and able to set a good example. By your participation and enthusiasm toward your class and school activities, you will be encouraging other students to get involved. You will also be assuming numerous responsibilities. You will be expected to attend all meetings and activities sponsored by the ASB and your class. You will be expected to promote all ASB sponsored events among your peers in the student body. You will be expected to be an active member of ASB by enrolling in the Leadership Class. And, you will be expected to be a supportive team member, going the extra mile to ensure that activities sponsored by the ASB are as successful as possible. If you are elected to a Class Officer position, you will be enrolled in a Zero Period Leadership Class. This class meets daily from 7:00am-7:50am. Class time will allow the ASB Officers to be a highly effective body on campus by providing students with plenty of time to plan and implement activities and events that can have a positive and meaningful impact on our campus. Regular on time attendance to class will be a large part of your grade. Most importantly, your tenure as a member of ASB will likely be one of the most rewarding and memorable experiences of your high school career. You will have the opportunity to be involved in a group that has the potential to be highly effective as a decision-making body, planning and creating events that will shape the entire year for the whole school. Determines time and need for class meetings and holds them at least once a month. Prepares a detailed agenda which should be used at every class meeting. Contributes a written monthly account of class events and updates to president. Holds at least one meeting with their class advisor monthly in order to update them on the status of the class and upcoming events. Submits bulletin announcements for all class events, meetings, or other important information. Creates a survey for each class meeting Keeps accurate records (sometimes. estimates) of number of people who attend class events. Focus on how to increase numbers. 2. 3. Plan and execute effective rallies including Homecoming, Spring Fling and at least 1 more per 6 week grading period. In charge of publicizing upcoming rallies. Has pre-approved music for all class events and rallies. Freshman Class ELD Representative *English Language Learner 1. Creates at least one form of publicity used each the month. 2. Candidates must complete all sections of this petition b. A 2.0 Academic Grade Point Average must be maintained your entire time in office. Candidates must maintain a record of good citizenship and follow all school rules. Leadership/ASB students should be good examples for other students on campus. c. All ASB members must be enrolled in the Leadership class. Once you are elected, zero period Leadership will be added to your schedule. Failure to attend Leadership class will result in forfeit of position. d. Members of ASB must be prepared to work hard and to hold themselves and each other to high standards. Being an ASB officer is a big commitment of time, energy and hard work for Prospect. e. Applications must be submitted to the Activities Office on or before August 23rd. GUIDELINES FOR CAMPAIGNING On-campus campaigning may only be done during the set dates: Monday 8/26 – Friday 8/30. No negative campaigning of any type will be tolerated, this includes online campaigning. Negative remarks or actions that target another student’s campaign, will disqualify you from the election. Candidates are limited to 50 sheets of paper (8 ½ x 11) for campaigning! Posters fall down and/or are ruined overnight. Sheets of paper can be used as fliers or to hand out to people. They can be cut into ¼ sheets to make up to 200 handouts. How you use them is up to you. If hanging anything on the walls around school: Painters tape only. No duct tape. All campaign materials must be purchased, the Activities Office/school can not provide any students with campaign materials. All campaign posters, fliers, etc. must be approved by the Activities Director before they are posted. All campaign posters, fliers, etc. must be removed by 2:30pm the day of the election.
