Overview
Integral Engineering Design is a London and Bath based Civil and Structural Engineering Consultancy. We
would like a graduate engineer with preferably some experience to join our team. We are a friendly, creative,
design studio who for fifteen years have worked very successfully in the South West; due to the number of
projects we have in London and the opportunities in the capital, we have recently opened a London office.
About us
Our portfolio of projects covers a wide range of sectors – see our website integral-engineering.co.uk and we
have an excellent reputation for our expertise in low carbon, solid timber and conservation engineering.
There are currently 14 members of staff in the Integral team, 2 of whom work in London. The practice operates
on a design studio basis, each project led by a Director; we find this environment allows for the easy flow of
information and encourages debate and learning.

Overall Aim of the role
The overall aim of the post is to provide the detailed structural and civil design on projects and to assist in the
administrative and managerial duties of the practice.
Hours and place of work
37.5 hours per week; typically 9 - 17.30 in the London office at Great Sutton Street. There will be some travel
within this role for example to design team meetings, visits to site and to our other office in Bath.
Main duties:
Technical











Assist with solving engineering problems, using creative, imaginative engineering.
Production of sketches and drawings both by hand and on computer.
Analysis of structures and the production of calculations.
Assisting with monitoring and guiding the technical work of others.
Assist in guiding the practice on new technical initiatives.
Ensure project work is carried out within agreed deadlines and within budget.
Monitoring and checking of works on site.
Checking contractor designs and fabrication drawings.
Design in accordance with current CDM 2007 Regulations and Health & Safety regulations.
Participation where opportunities arise in teaching and research.
Other duties as required.

Managerial and Administrative










Go about every day work in an ordered process in keeping with a professional office
environment.
Assist in the day to day administrative duties of the office.
Represent Integral Engineering Design both within and outside the office with a high degree of
professionalism.
Assisting with the production of stage reports.
Producing specifications according to Integral standards.
Working within our ISO procedures for quality and the environment.
Assist in managing the work of others.
Ensure the efficient delivery of projects.
Assist in the management of clients.
Communicate and coordinate with Directors and other design team members.
Person Specification












Good engineering degree with ideally two years work experience.
Knowledge of Eurocodes essential.
A team player with the ability or potential to manage others.
Good communication skills written and verbal.
Design flair and ability to propose solutions to clients.
Graduate member of IStructE or ICE.
Be studying or willing to study for chartership of the IStructE or ICE.
Able to work on own initiative and prioritise work.
Enthusiasm, imagination and willingness to learn and adapt.
Awareness of and interest in environmental design issues.
Ability to work within budgets.
Highly literate in relevant IT packages including MS Office, structural analysis software and
knowledge of AutoCad, Revit and document management systems.
Training
Integral believe in the on-going professional development of their staff and training will be provided to support the
successful applicant especially with regard to gaining chartership.
Salary and Benefits
A permanent position paying £24,000 – £35,000 per annum to reflect experience. All salaries are reviewed
annually.
Company pension scheme; life assurance; 20 days holiday rising one day per year of service to a maximum of
25 days, in addition to bank holidays and an extra Directors’ day in the Xmas holidays. A company day out, a
business day and a generous training provision including weekly CPD sessions.
