7S
1.
You are a campaign manager and the candidate you support is one of the organic
compounds.
2. You will use your notes, the tech book, and the Internet to research your compound.
3. The purpose is to understand your organic compound and be able to teach it to the class.
Assigned Organic Compound: _________________________
 Proteins
 Complex Carbohydrates (starches)
 Simple Carbohydrates (simple sugars)
 Lipids
1. What elements are in your compound?
2. What are the building blocks (monomer) for your compound? If you are the monomer,
what is the polymer? If you are assigned lipids, list the three types and give examples
of each.
Lipids ONLY: Difference between saturated and unsaturated fats. Find and image of
the molecular structure.
3. What are the functions of your compound in the human body?
4. What sources of food can you get this molecule from? Find an image.
5. Find an image of the molecular structure, both the monomer and polymer. (no stick, it
needs dimension).
6. Do a little research on the other macromolecules. Explain the potential negative
impacts if the macromolecule was over or under consumed.
