On joint motion of all Councilmembers present, the following resolution was
offered:
RESOLUTION NO.
A resolution authorizing amendments to the Katrina/Rita
Disaster Recovery Plan and the Gustav/Ike Disaster
Recovery Plan of the Jefferson Parish Long Term
Community Recovery Plan (per the attached)Specifically the
portion of the plan describing the Proposed LRA Recovery
Projects which delineates distribution of funds and specific
projects. (Parishwide)
WHEREAS, the Katrina/Rita Plan was approved by Resolution No. 108528
adopted on August 22, 2007, and the Plan was submitted to and approved by the State
of Louisiana on September 11, 2007; and
WHEREAS, the Katrina/Rita Plan was amended by Resolution No. 111584
adopted on January 14, 2009, and the amended Plan was submitted to and approved
by the State of Louisiana on May 6, 2009; and
WHEREAS,
the Gustav/Ike Plan was approved by Resolution No. 113167
adopted on September 23, 2009 and the plan was submitted to and approved by the
State of Louisiana on or about March 17, 2010.
WHEREAS, the City of Westwego and Town of Grand Isle are required to
conduct two public hearings regarding their selected projects to ensure citizens input,
and that both municipalities are required to seek their respective Council’s approval to
formally request that Jefferson Parish add their selected projects to either the
Katrina/Rita or the Gustav/Ike Disaster Recovery Plan; and
WHEREAS, various projects were ineligible under the Katrina/Rita Disaster
Recovery Program, but were eligible under the Gustav/Ike Disaster recovery Program
and vice versa; and
WHEREAS, sufficient funding was available under the Gustav/Ike Disaster
Recovery Program to add additional eligible projects; and
WHEREAS, the State of Louisiana requires that prior to approval of the amended
Plans, a public hearing must be noticed to the public and held by the governing
authority; and
WHEREAS, the governing authority of the Parish of Jefferson held a public
hearing on the amended Plan on October 13, 2010
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Jefferson Parish Council of
Jefferson Parish, Louisiana, acting as governing authority of said Parish:
SECTION 1. That approval is hereby granted to amend to the Katrina/Rita
Disaster Recovery Plan and the Gustav/Ike Disaster Recovery Plan of the Jefferson
Parish Long Term Community Recovery Plan (per the attached), specifically the portion
of the plan describing the Proposed LRA Recovery Projects which delineates
distribution of funds and specific projects.
SECTION 2. That the Chairman of the Jefferson Parish Council, or in his
absence, the Vice-Chairman, is authorized to sign, execute and approve any and all
documents necessary to give full force and effect to this resolution.
The foregoing resolution having been submitted to vote, the vote thereon was as
