LAKEVIEW NEWSLETTER
From the Director: August is here already and
as we look forward to this new month we are hoping for
some more hot days! It would be wonderful if you could
send in a bathing suit/towel and water shoes with your
child on the days it is 80 degrees or more. We will be
getting out in the sprinkler and making use of this
beautiful summer! We are pleased to welcome the newest
additions to our teaching team, Miss Riley and Miss
Christa! Both have extensive experience in working with
young children; Miss Riley has a degree in Early
Childhood Education and Miss Christa is currently
enrolled at Buffalo State working toward her teaching
degree. Welcome aboard ladies!!

starting to eat regular food. We are so
happy to see this excellent development!
Now, on to what will be happening this
month. We are going to be learning all
about animals! Our first week will be all
about puppies and kittens. Week two we
are going to explore what animals sound
like. The following week we will find out
about barnyard animals and finally we will
learn all about fish. With all of these
themes we will be doing many art
projects as well as animal puzzles,
utilizing those fine motor skills! We will
do some dancing as the kids just love
music lately! Water and sand play will be
a new addition to the classroom- we will
just wait and see how that goes! We will
also sing lots of fun songs and listen to
stories about animals. We hope you all
enjoy the rest of your summer!

Nursery: August already? This summer
has flown by, and as time flies our
children also show off all of the new
things they are learning! We would like
to let everyone know how excited we are
that Marlana is beginning to say a few
words- a great feat for her! Ricky and
Marlana will be making the transition to
the toddler room this month and they are
so excited! Hayden and Jason are sitting
up all by themselves and Hayden is even

Toddler: The summer is flying by, I can’t
Preschool: This month in Preschool our
believe it’s already August! I am very
excited that Ricky and Marlana will be
joining us in the Toddler room this month!
We can also celebrate Riley using
complete sentences and welcoming our
new friends by playing so nicely with
them! The more friends to grow and
learn with together the better!! This
month we will continue to explore the
outdoors by learning about animals in and
around ponds and swamps. Our first
week is all about frogs, week two we will
learn about alligators! During week three
we will listen and look for birds and find
out their names and week four we will
learn about our turtle friends. August will
be filled with playing in the water table,
reading stories about these different
animals and using our knowledge
outdoors where they live! Differentiation
of animal types will lead us into animal
homes and all kinds of sorting, which is
beginning math and science! I hope your
families enjoy the rest of the summer and
the nice weather while it is here!
theme is “In The Summertime” Where
We’re off on an adventure! Whether it’s a
family vacation, a day trip to the beach or
just a hike to explore nature, kids are
always ready to go! We will discuss
weather in science as well as how
weather affects our trees, plants and
animals. We will role play family
vacations to enhance our socio-emotional
development and plan a picnic lunch to
eat outside- we will even prepare it
ourselves! In math we will make sundials
and one of our art activities will be spray
painting the grass and seeing the designs
change colors as we mix paints! In
addition to that theme we will also
explore the “Insect Kingdom”! Every
child is fascinated with insects and bugs,
and our curriculum is crawling with them!!
It’s all about those hands on ‘teachable
moments’ with children who are
preschool age, and every day is an
exciting quest for knowledge! We will
paint with fly swatters, count raisins then
prepare and eat ‘ants on a log’. In
science we will water flowers, discuss at
length the metamorphosis of a caterpillar
to a butterfly, dig for worms and worm
paint! We will also learn the parts of an
insect and discuss pollination! We will be
BUSY BUSY BEE’S this month, that’s for
sure! Looking forward to all the fun!
