1) Welcome

---Our business meeting during APHA Annual Meeting and Exposition (Nov
2-6th, 2013, Boston, MA) will be on Sunday, November 3, 2013: 8:00 AM9:30 AM. Look out for our brochure including the rest of the Genomics
Forum sessions, details about the business meeting and a social event local
to the conference.
--We will be recognizing the winner for the essay contest, “The Future of
Public Health Genomics: What Success Looks Like to Me”.
3) Updates from Committees
a. Policy Committee (Stephen Modell; mod@umich.edu)
-Monthly meetings for committee
-Policy Approved by APHA: our policy included cancer surveillance to
cancer genomic services
-APHA Public Hearings 3:30-6pm on Sunday, November 3
-Monday October 7th, - Fundable Projects (Medicaid GC, New forms of
cancer Genetic Testing, Epigenetic Testing among relatives)

a.Tier 1/ Workforce Development- (Toby/Karen/Heather)
-Working on a series of webinars (4) to advertise and stir up interest
about the following applications:
-Hereditary Breast Ovarian Cancer
-Lynch Syndrome (Cascade Screening)
-Hypercholesterolemia (Cascade Screening)
-First webinar will be released in the next few months over viewing the
Tier-1 Applications and benefits of Genetic Testing

-Leadership needed for both groups:
-GxE Interaction WG: The group has completed various projects and is
now looking for a new project—suggestions are appreciated!!
-Carrier Screening WG Educational-identifying information available for
carrier screening to put together a tool kit
