Dear Parents/Guardians:
We are excited about preparing for the 2015-2016 school year at David Thibodaux STEM Magnet Academy.
It is imperative for you and your child to attend your designated orientation session. During this time we will discuss school processes,
the registration packet, scheduling, and review student expectations. Grade Level Fees will be collected. We are requesting that you
bring copies of the following pieces of information to allow for paperwork to be completed.
 Social Security Card
 Immunization Records
 Current Utility Bill with Parent/Guard Name
 Child Custody Papers (if acceptable)
 Please be sure that you have turned in a copy of your child’s Birth Certificate and Social Security Card.
Registration/Scheduling and Orientation/Senior Retreat schedule is below:
Aug. 3, 2015 /Middle School
Aug. 4, 2015/High School
Aug. 12, 2015/ Dual Enrollment (ULL/SLCC)
6th grade: 8 am - 10 am
9th grade: 8 am - 10 am
11th & 12th grade: 9 am - 12 noon
7th & 8th grade: 11 pm - 1 pm
10th, 11th, & 12 grade: 11 am - 1 pm
Senior Retreat: 2 pm - 6 pm
A suggested supply list will be distributed at orientation. Supplies and additional materials may be requested by individual teachers.
Dress code policy for middle school and high school will be discussed during orientation. Please check the school’s website for our
Summer Reading List. All of this information can be found on the front page of our school’s website at
www.lpssonline.com/thibodaux.
Our school fees are listed below:
I. ID’s/Planners Fees (will be collected during orientation)
II. These fees cover the cost of student id’s and student planners ($16 total). Profits will go toward student incentives, campus
beautification, and teacher appreciation.
III. GRADE LEVEL FEES (will be collected during orientation)
A. High School Grade Level Fees
1. Freshman – $15.00
o The freshman class will sponsor the Winter Homecoming Dance and the Spring Lock-in. Any monies
remaining at the end of the year will follow the class to the next grade level.
2. Sophomore – $25.00
o The sophomore class will sponsor a Bonfire and Lock-in. Any monies remaining at the end of the year
will follow the class to the next grade level.
3. Junior – $50.00
o The junior class will sponsor a Ring Ceremony and a Junior-Senior Prom. Any monies remaining at the
end of the year will follow the class to the next grade level.
4. Senior – $50.00
o The senior class will sponsor a Junior/Senior Prom, Graduate Honors Program, and Graduation
Ceremony and Reception. The class of 2016 will determine an appropriate school gift to be purchased
with any remaining funds.
B.
Middle School Grade Level Fee
1. 6th – 8th Grade – $10.00
o Middle school will have activities throughout the school year, including a field day during the last week
of school.
**Attendance of grade level sponsored events is contingent upon ALL fees paid each year. **

IV. COURSE FEES (Course Fees will not be collected at orientation) Course fees are be paid to the students’ specific class teacher
beginning the first day of school.
A. High School
1. ALL Science classes – $15.00 – consumable materials (including PLTW classes);
2. Math – $15.00 – consumable workbooks and materials, batteries for calculators;
3. ELA – $5.00 – consumable materials;
4. Social Studies - $5.00 – consumable materials, except US History - $20.00 for the purchase of a consumable
EOC workbook;
5. Art – $15.00 – consumable materials;
6. Food Nutrition/Advanced Food Nutrition – $50.00 – consumable materials;
7. Business courses
a. IBCA – $10.00 – consumable materials;
b. BCA – $10.00 – consumable materials;
c. Principles of Business – $5.00 – consumable materials;
8. Program elective fees and students that are attending ULL, SLCC or Career Center will get specific course
fees, supplies, and required materials from the individual teachers.
B. Middle School
1. Class fees for ELA, Math, and Social Studies – $3.00. Students will pay this amount for each class they are
enrolled to their designated teachers;
2. ALL Science classes – $10.00 ($3.00 class fee and $7.00 consumable and laboratory materials and supplies);
3. Exploration elective class fees will vary. The fee will be set by the specific teacher depending on the
materials and supplies needed for the particular class.
C. Advanced Placement
1. If your child is taking an AP class and qualifies to test for college credit, an additional fee of $91.00 will be
required.
D. Physical Education
1. P.E. shirts and shorts are required for all physical education classes. Cost for the shirt is $10.00 and the cost
for the shorts is $10.00. Additional cost for extra large sizes.
