Ionic liquids (ILs) are organic salts with low melting point. ILs are attractive as potential solvents for a number of properties useful in fine organic synthesis and catalysis. They exhibit high thermic stability, good solubilities for both organic and inorganic substrates and also allow to isolate products easily and to recycle the catalyst-IL system. [1].

This work is devoted to the investigation of aryl chlorides homocoupling reactions, catalyzed by nickel complexes, in ionic liquid medium:

In course of the research major factors influencing on aryl chlorides homocoupling in ILs medium were invesigated. It was determined, that activity of nickel catalyst in ILs medium dramatically differs from such ones in aprotic dipolar solvents media [2]. The nature of IL, particularly the nature of anionic moiety, is an important factor, which has an influence on the activity of catalytic system.

The preparative methods for obtaining of substituted biaryls, based on received experimental data, including recycling of ionic liquid, were developed.
