SPECIAL NOTICE
If you change address or email address – please,
please let me know.
YIKES two days in April with temps in the mid 80's and
in the same week to boot. Well maybe it'll last, naw!!!
It was good to be able to get out and about on two wheels
and maybe we'll have another such day before the month
is out. I want to thank all who volunteered as ride
captains for the upcoming year.
Check your email/newsletter often as the rides have
been planned and scheduled by the Ride Captain for May
as well as the NEC set for May 21-23 in Portland, Maine.
We will set up a met location with a time of departure so
that those of us planning on attending can ride over as a
group and it will be sent out via email/telephone.
We had a pretty good turnout at the April GM meeting
with a brand new face (Amar Douidi) who was pinned by
his sponsor (Mike Bothwick) and a few familiar faces that
we haven't seen in awhile it was nice to see everybody.
I am still looking for your input on the proposed change
to the BK bylaws as it pertains to correctional officers and
their powers of arrest or lack thereof. I really need your
input as I will be required to cast a vote either for or
against the proposal at the International Convention, this
July. To date I have only received a response from four
(4) members. See email sent out on March 19, 2004 and
the April newsletter for further info.
The Corn Roast is fast approaching and I want to remind
everyone that the list of vendors/businesses still has
fourteen (14) not yet selected. We are not bound to these
alone and REMEMBER the donated item need not be
motorcycle related. Please see the updated email sent out
April 20.
Hope to see many more of you at the next GM meeting,
May 17 or on the next planned ride.
If you no longer have email, please call 603-464-5881 to let
me know you need newsletters sent snail mail.

ARTICLES
Reminder that this is YOUR newsletter. So if you have a
story to tell or a ride to share, write it up and submit it.
Don't think, 'ahh, someone else will write something
about it.' Generally 'some one else' doesn't.
So send it in. It doesn't have to be BK related. Some
people live vicariously through others. If you want to
critique a new or old eatery, where to go or stay away
from, if you went on vacation, day trip or went to the
corner store and something interesting happened or had a
great route there, let us know.

Hello ; I hope this correspondence finds you and
your family healthy and prosperous. Perhaps you
may remember me my name is Corey Simpson I
sent you a billet motorcycle part about a year ago.
Since then I have purchased my own CNC
machine and am trying my hand at making a go of
manufacturing custom motorcycle components. I
would really like the opportunity to get acquainted
more with your organization. Since we last spoke I
have gotten a new fulltime job as a toolmaker for a
large automotive supplier and am trying to juggle
starting my own business and working fulltime. I am
attaching some photos of some of my latest projects.
I now have "Derby" covers for all new Harley TC88's they are made from solid billet 6061-T6

with polished stainless steel fasteners. Thanks again

Hi Everyone,
If anybody needs a room for Americade, I have one
available. I actually made 2 reservations, and figured
before I let one go, I'd put it out to Brother and Sister Blue
Knights. The available room is at the Mohawk Motel /
Choice Inn. It is right on Canada St, at the intersection of
Canada St and Rt 9N. If you've never been to Americade,
it's the northern end of the "Main Drag" of the entire
event. I stayed at this place 2 years ago. The motel is
nice, but I will tell you up front that the owner is a DICK.
I don't think it's just motorcyclists, I am pretty sure he
hates everyone. The cost of the room is $129 a night and
the reservation is arriving Monday and departing
Saturday. (5 days required)
I don't have any money tied up in this reservation, so if
no one wants it, no big deal. BUT, if anyone plans to go
to Americade for the entire week, and doesn't have
reservations yet, you are going to find lodging is very
scarce. If you want the reservation, call me and I will get
the info to you. My number is 603-528-3658 or work
527-4737(Tue-Sat 07-1500).

Fall 2004 Conference Update: We have been informed
by QC-1, the host chapter, that the quoted deadline of
April 1, 2004 for hotel reservations and registration are in
error. It appears there will be a new deadline set . The
chapter strongly suggests you make your hotel
reservations ASAP and submit your registration early.

STURGIS
RALLY
2004
Hi, my name is Marta Wyatt.
My husband Kent and I own Wyatt's Hideaway a new
campground in South Dakota located only twenty minutes
west of Sturgis on hwy 34. For the past two years we
have enjoyed various Blue Knights members staying with
us during the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. This year we are
open down to the river with a nice new swimming area.
We would love to have you, your family and friends join
us this year for the rally.
Please take a minute and visit our website at
www.wyattshideaway.com to learn more about us, our
competitive rates and our new facilities.
We look forward to hearing from you. Thank you,
Kent and Marta Wyatt
I personally will be going down on Saturday, May 8th and
going to Law Ride on Sunday the 9th. Then I will be
leaving for 2 days and returning on Wednesday, the 12th
and staying until the 17th.
Make your reservations as soon as you can as this hotel
has filled up in years past. You can always cancel if your
plans change but you'll have the room if you do plan on
going.
If you have any questions don't hesitate to contact me or
any member of the COPSRUN staff.
Thank you for your support.

COPS RUN UPDATE
OK, you asked for it here it is...
This (next) year due to the way the calendar falls the
events have a big gap in between.
Law Ride is Sunday, May 9th
Candlelight Vigil is Thursday, May 13th
Memorial Service is Saturday, May 15th
Survivor's Picnic is Sunday, May 16th
This year as always Blue Knights' COPSRUN will be
attending all of the events.
However, some of us will not be staying the entire 9 days
and will come and go from the area to make the events.
We are doing this as a cost saving measure as staying 7
nights last years was expensive enough but 9 this year
would be crazy.
The host hotel again this year is the Comfort Inn in
Bowie, Maryland, (Jct US 50 and US 301) Phone #301464-0089. The rate is $91.20 and if you want to upgrade
to a room in the new wing with a refrigerator, microwave,
coffeemaker, iron, etc., the rate will be $97.20.
The rooms are blocked under COPSRUN/Law Ride from
May 8th to 17th and you can stay any number of nights
for the same rate and even split the stay if you wish.
NOTE: These rates are the same as their "Internet" and
"Business" rates that you can get on-line but PLEASE,
PLEASE, PLEASE make the call and book under our
block as we will not get credit for the rooms if you book
through the internet. If we don't get the rooms credited to
our block we will not get the hospitality room. We had
this problem last year so PLEASE MAKE THE PHONE
CALL.
This past Saturday (4/24) Sue and I were meeting Ed and
Betty from Mass. 7(they are the couple we rode down to the
convention and summer knights with last summer) and were
going to head up to RJ''s Open House when a dog ran out in
front of Ed and they went down. Ed hurt his shoulder and
hip and Betty broke her wrist and sprained her ankle. All in
all they were real lucky and are home recuperating.
Just a reminder, watch out for those dogs!!!

Subject: Corn Roast raffle items
Hello fellow Knights:
At the March general membership meeting I reminded those
present of our upcoming annual Corn Roast and how our raffle
tables were overflowing at last years event. That was mainly
due to the efforts of our last president and former member of
NH-1.
This year I am asking the each and every member solicit
from at least two (2) businesses/vendors in the area of their
residence or work for donations for the raffle. Most of us
either frequent a business often or personally know a business
owner. Attached you will find a list of last years contributors;
location and person or point of contact. Please select at least
two (2) and sometime between now and August 14th call upon
them to donate an item or gift certificate as they have in the
past. The item need not be motorcycle related as any donation
will be appreciated.
We are not bound to these businesses/vendors only so if you
know of others please contact them. I would like to make this
years raffle better than ever and if that is the case maybe the
word will spread that NH-1's Corn Roast is back and better
that ever. We will also be changing the format a little where
the raffle will be held at the conclusion of the skills events.
Please remember that this year's Corn Roast is ONLY a
little over four (4) months away. I will make available, at
the April 19th meeting, a letter from me on letterhead that
you can bring with you as you visit the businesses.
and PLEASE email me jovan.cc @verizon.net or call me
to let me know which businesses you will contact in order
to save duplication of effort and to avoid stepping on toes.
I will coordinate this effort with the membership.
Thanks in advance;

Stuart,
The Ride for Kids® is an annual motorcycle event held in
twenty-nine cities across the country to raise money for
the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation of the United
States. The PBTFUS is the largest funding agency in the
world for pediatric brain tumor research, outside of the
U.S. government. Since the first Ride for Kids® event in
1984, motorcyclists have raised over 23 million dollars to
fight pediatric brain tumors, the most deadly of all
childhood cancers.

This year's New England Ride for Kids®, which will be
escorted by state and local police, will be held on August
15. It will start at the Wal-Mart in North Oxford (exit 10
off the Mass. Pike), and end at Mt. Holyoke College in
South Hadley.
The amount of money that is raised at this year's New
England Ride for Kids® to fight pediatric brain tumors
will be directly related to the number of motorcyclists
who participate.
As the visitation coordinator, it is my responsibility to
coordinate the presentations for the New England Ride for
Kids® to motorcycle groups, clubs and chapters. It is in
this regard that I am writing to you today.
I would sincerely appreciate the opportunity to give a
Ride for Kids® presentation to your group in the very
near future. The presentation is only 10 minutes long, and
includes a 5 minute video. To show the video,
I will need the use of a TV and a VCR. If these are not
available at the location that you hold your meetings, I
would be happy to bring my own TV and VCR with me.
Some groups hold their meetings at places where it
would not be practical for me to show the video, such as
restaurants. If this is the case, I would be happy to give
the presentation without showing the video.
If you would prefer that I not give a presentation to your
group, I would be happy to mail some flyers to you to
distribute to your members at your next meeting. Just let
me know your mailing address, and the number of flyers
you’d like me to send.
Please contact me by e-mail at: hblad1@comcast.net, or

hearing from you, and would like to
thank you very much for your consideration.

Subject: I wish you could know
I wish you could know what it is like to search a burning
bedroom for trapped children at 3 AM, flames rolling above
your head, your palms and knees burning as you crawl, the
floor sagging under your weight as the kitchen below you
burns.
I wish you could comprehend a wife's horror at 6 in the
morning as I check her husband of 40 years for a pulse and
find none. I start CPR anyway, hoping to bring him back,
knowing intuitively it is too late. But wanting his wife and
family to know everything possible was done to try to save his
life.
I wish you knew the unique smell of burning insulation, the
taste of soot-filled mucus, the feeling of intense heat through
your turnout gear, the sound of flames crackling, the eeriness
of being able to see absolutely nothing in dense smokesensations that I've become too familiar with.
I wish you could read my mind as I respond to a building
fire "Is this false alarm or a working fire? How is the
building constructed? What hazards await me? Is anyone
trapped?" Or to call a medical call, "What is wrong with
the patient? Is it minor or life-threatening? Is the caller
really in distress or is he waiting for us with a 2x4 or a
gun?"
I wish you could be in the emergency room as a doctor
pronounces dead the beautiful five-year old girl that I
have been trying to save during the past 25 minutes.
Who will never go on her first date or say the words,
"I love you Mommy" again.
I wish you could know the frustration I feel in the cab of
the engine, squad, or my personal vehicle, with my foot
pressing down hard on the pedal, my arm tugging again
and again at the air horn chain, as you fail to yield the
right-of-way at an intersection or in traffic.
When you need us however, your first comment upon our
arrival will be, "It took you forever to get here!"
I wish you could know my thoughts as I help extricate a
girl of teenage years from the remains of her automobile.
"What if this was my daughter, sister, my girlfriend or a
friend? What were her parents reaction going to be when
they opened the door to find a police officer with hat in
hand?"
I wish you could know how it feels to walk in the back
door and greet my parents and family, not having the
heart to tell them that I nearly did not come back from the
last call.
I wish you could know how it feels dispatching officers,
firefighters, Paramedics and EMT's out and when we call
for them and our heart drops because no one answers back
or to hear a bone chilling 911 call of a child or wife
needing assistance.
I wish you could feel the hurt as people verbally, and
sometimes physically, abuse us or belittle what I do, or as
they express their attitudes of "It will never happen to me.
I wish you could realize the physical, emotional and
mental drain or missed meals, lost sleep and forgone
social activities, in addition to all the tragedy my eyes
have seen
I wish you could know the brotherhood and selfsatisfaction of helping save a life or preserving someone's
property, or being able to be there in time of crisis, or
creating order from total chaos.
I wish you could understand what it feels like to have a
little boy tugging at your arm and asking, "Is Mommy
okay?" Not even being able to look in his eyes without
tears from your own and not knowing what to say.
Or to have to hold back a long time friend who watches
his buddy having CPR done on him as they take him way
in the Medic Unit. You know all along he did not have his
seat belt on. A sensation that I have become too familiar
with.
Unless you have lived with this kind of life, you will
never truly understand or appreciate who I am, we are, or
what our job really means to us...I wish you could though.
APPRECIATE AND SUPPORT THE LOCAL EMS
WORKERS, 911 DISPATCHERS, FIREFIGHTERS, and
LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS IN YOUR AREA.
ONE DAY THEY'LL PROBABLY BE SAVING YOUR
PROPERTY OR YOUR OWN LIFE.
WHEN YOU SEE THEM COMING WITH LIGHTS
FLASHING, MOVE OUT OF THE WAY QUICKLY,
THEN PRAY FOR THEM.
