1. What are the learning objectives for the Improving Quality and Safety in Your
Endoscopy Unit course (aka the Quality Course)?
At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:
 Identify ways to define and measure quality in endoscopy.
 Describe techniques to make endoscopy more efficient while maintaining safety.
 Describe methods to improve patient satisfaction in endoscopy, including improved
doctor-patient communication.
 Recognize the potential sources of infection from contact with various body fluids, their
transmissibility during gastrointestinal endoscopy, and their susceptibility to potential
disinfectants.
 Specify measures for improving unit quality, including training and credentialing for new
procedures, quality assurance programs, sedation and monitoring, and unit accreditation
and re-accreditation.

3. Which types of continuing education are associated with the Quality Course?
Continuing Medical Education
The American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE) is accredited by the
Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical
education for physicians.
ASGE designates this live activity for a maximum of 8.50 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.
Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in
the activity.
Nursing Contact Hours
This educational activity has been submitted to the Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and
Associates, Inc. for approval. The Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates, Inc.
is accredited as an approver of continuing education in nursing by the American Nurses
Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
4. What is the registration fee for the Quality Course and what is the cancellation
policy?
The following registration fees are associated with the Quality Course.
Course Registration Fees
$400 ASGE Member
$500 Nonmember
$325 Endoscopy Unit Recognition Program Participant
 Staff members from units currently recognized by the ASGE Endoscopy Unit
Recognition Program are eligible for this rate.
 Staff members from units actively applying to the ASGE Endoscopy Unit Recognition
Program are eligible for this rate. To register at this fee, a program application for
your unit must be submitted along with the course registration form. If the program
application is not received with the course registration, you will be charged the ASGE
member or nonmember fee, based on your ASGE membership status.

Cancellation Policy
Requests for refunds must be received in writing at least two weeks before the activity and
will be subject to an administrative fee of $100. Attendee substitutions are permitted with
ASGE authorization. ASGE has the right to cancel a program at any time at its discretion.
