FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Q1. What is a multifunction oven? A1. A multifunction is a versatile oven which has a combination of features including top heat, base heat, fanned or conventional oven options and includes a defrost facility. Q2. Can instruction manuals be downloaded from the Stoves website? A2. Unfortunately at present there is no facility for this. Q3. How do I set my timer into manual when it is in auto? A3. For quick guide to timer operations, click here. Q4. Why does my top door not have an inner glass Stoves / Belling appliance? A4. If an appliance does not have an inner door glass in the top door, this is because the appliance is a twin cavity appliance incorporating a single oven with grill. Grill doors do not have inner door glasses. ( Except for Prima range of appliances, grill door has inner glass) Q5. Can appliances be converted from Natural gas to LPG or vice-versa? A5. Click on link to see which appliance can be converted, click here Q6. Why do gas appliances have to be repaired / installed by an approved engineer? A6. Any gas appliances must be repaired / installed by a person qualified to Australian Gas Installation standard AS560. This is to ensure that the installation / repair is carried out in accordance with all current ‘gas safety regulations’. Q7. Should the cooling fan continue to run after the appliance is turned off? A7. Depending on the appliance the customer has: The cooling fan could stay on for 10 mins, as this is controlled by a timer with-in the P C B, or if your appliance has its cooling fan controlled by a thermal switch. Then the fan will only stay on when the appliance reaches a certain temperature, this temperature is more likely to be reached when the grill is in use. The cooling fan is fitted to help keep the control knobs cool. Q8. What is the clearance required between the top of the hob and the underneath of an extractor hood? A8. If the appliance is a hob or a freestanding SI / WL cooker our recommended distance is 650mm. If the customer has a high level grill our recommended distance is 450mm. However the customer must always follow the hood manufactures instructions. These will mostly state 750mm Q9. How is the grill pan located? A9. 1. On high level appliances, the grill pan will fit on a shelf or locate on two runners attached to the shelf. 2. On freestanding appliances the grill pan will locate on two runners either side of the grill cavity. 3. On built-in / freestanding appliances, if the cavity has shelf guides fitted, then the grill pan will sit on a shelf. Q10. How can I remove the inner door glass Stoves, New world and some Belling ? A10. The inner door glass can be removed by sliding it from its runners, towards the top of the door. When relocating the inner door glass, it must be square to the door and pushed on to the location stop keys located with in the runner. On all other Belling appliances the inner glass can be removed by removing two locating plates from the inner door panel or the whole door has to be removed. Q11. What parts of my appliance, can be placed in a dishwasher? A11. Any enamelled parts, such as pan supports and burner caps and parts such as oven shelves and shelf guides can be washed in a dishwasher. . Q12. What parts can not be placed in a dishwasher? A12. Parts such as burner skirts, control knobs and Cast iron pan supports and burner caps should not be placed in a dishwasher. These should be washed in warm soapy water with a nylon brush. Q13. How can I clean my oven cavity? A13. Enamelled (dark brown finish) cavities can be cleaned with most oven cleaners. (However customer must check the manufactures instructions before use) Easy clean cavities (light grey finish), must only be cleaned with warm soapy water. Belling Cook clean panels involve periodic burning off. This is done by setting the oven to a temp higher than 220oC Q14. How much of a gap should I leave between my freestanding appliance and kitchen cupboards? A14. We would recommend a gap of at least 10mm on each side, to ensure ease of removal when appliance has to be pulled out for cleaning or repair. Q15. How do I find my model and serial number? A15. This information can be found on the appliance data badge. The data badge can be found in various places as follows: 1. Freestanding HL cooker ---- base of pan storage draw 2. Freestanding cooker --------- Front frame near oven cavity (Open oven door) 3. BI – oven ---------------------- Front frame near oven cavity (Open oven door) 4. Hobs ---------------------------- Located on base plate of appliance. If customer has difficulty locating data badges on appliances, they are also on the handbooks issued with the appliances. Q16. After washing my hob, the ignition fails to work or continues to spark why this is? A16. This is because, the electrodes are wet. They will function properly once they have dried out. Q17. I can feel hot air coming from the front of my appliance? A17. This can happen for two reasons. 1. Our gas appliances are front venting, so all oven heat will come from the front of the appliance. 2. Some of our Built in appliances have a power cool system, which will keep the doors cool. This can also produce warm air in front of the appliance. Q18. Can I change the hinges on my oven doors – so the door open the opposite way? A18. No, the doors can not be change to open any other way. Q19. What does Gyrflo mean, with regards to my New world oven? A19. Gyrflo is a term used by New world to describe how the air circulates with in their ovens cavities. It does not mean it’s a fanned oven.
