What’s that Word?
Name: ___________________________________
(An Ecological Vocabulary Project)
Project due date: November 4, 2015 Date: __________________________ Per: _____
Purpose: Creating this project will help you learn the many terms that we will use this year.
You will get to choose which project gives you the challenge that you want! Look at the
descriptions below and choose the one that sounds the best to you. But if you think of another idea
that is not on this list, just check with me and I will probably say “Go for it!”
Children’s Book/Comic Book: You will create a children’s/comic book illustrating your understanding
of any ecological topic. In your story, you will include at least 20 terms from the list provided. At
the end of your story, you will include a glossary providing the definitions, in your own words, of the
terms used through the book.
Children’s Activity Book: You will create an activity book for children. Activity book should
include 8-10 activities such as puzzles, mazes, dot-to-dot, coloring pages, each with a little lesson
to learn about ecology. Your book should include a glossary with at least 20 terms defined, in your
own words.
Board Game: You will create a board game demonstrating your understanding of any ecological
topic. Your game should include instructions on how to play, a board, game pieces, game cards, and a
glossary sheet defining at least 20 terms from the list provided. Each term should be defined in
your own words.
Ecology Newspaper: You will put together a newspaper with several articles depicting any ecological
topics. Your newspaper should include at least 20 terms from the list provided, an appropriate
newspaper name, an editorial, a cartoon, a classified, an advertisement, and a sports article. The
last page of your newspaper should include a glossary providing definitions, in your own words, of
the terms used in the newspaper.
The Song/Poem Project Description: You will create a song or poem that encompasses at least 20
terms and demonstrates your understanding of those terms. You do not need to include the
definitions in the body of your song or poem however; you will need to provide a glossary of all
terms used with definitions that you have developed using your own words.
The Original Project Description: If none of these ideas appeal to you. Come up with your own
project, and run it by me for approval.
All projects must:
 look professional (be typed) and have neat pasting or gluing.
 include a glossary page defining (all) terms in your own words
 be free of grammatical and spelling errors.
