Entries coming in for the 2nd Brisbane to Keppel Tropical
Yacht Race
The clock is counting down the days to the start gun of the 2 nd Brisbane to Keppel Tropical
Yacht Race which will see competing yachts sail the glorious Queensland coast from
Brisbane to Keppel Bay on Saturday 2nd August.
Eleven yachts have already entered the race including the new edition to Queensland yacht
racing Black Jack, the Reichel Pugh 66 which is due to arrive in Brisbane in the coming week.
Black Jack skipper Mark Bradford says the crew are looking forward to sailing the boat to the
tropical venue. “Our goal for the Brisbane to Keppel race is to attempt to set a line honours
race record. There is a chance that Black Jack is going to be the biggest boat, so instead of
focusing on an IRC win, we want that race record!” said Bradford.
Brisbane local Farr 40’s Bribie Star, Night Nurse and Cracklin Rosie are regular racers on
Moreton Bay and are looking forward to being the first Farr 40 to arrive in Keppel Bay Marina.
“One thing we are starved of in Queensland is good ocean races, so this one to Keppel Bay is
going to be a beauty! We plan on being around the Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron a few
days before hand just getting in the groove then will spend a few “dry” days at sea before the
party starts all over again! We are really going to try and be the first Farr 40 to finish,” said
Cracklin Rosie owner and skipper Robbo Robertson.
Cracklin Rosie along with many of the other boats competing in the Brisbane to Keppel
Tropical Yacht Race will be continuing north to race in either Airlie Beach and or Hamilton
Island Race Week.
