MAIN PURPOSE OF POST

1. To work within the Sport and Leisure Management Team ensuring the efficient and effective operation of the Councils Leisure facilities and activities, including where necessary working on a shift system.

2. To be responsible for service conformity with all corporate policies and ensuring essential service specific operating procedures and action plans at facilities are maintained.

3. To support the successful achievement of the Councils Corporate Priorities, delivering value for money programmes and high quality services to the community.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. The post holder will normally be based at a particular facility, but will be expected to work routinely at any of the Council's facilities when required on either a temporary or permanent basis.

2. Preparation and review of site specific annual planned maintenance schedules to ensure that each facility and all equipment is properly inspected and maintained in good working order.

3. Providing the Sport and Leisure Manager with regular financial and participation information and performance data against national and local measures.

4. Maintaining all necessary records as required in accordance with statutory requirements or internal policy and procedures.

5. Providing routine operational cover for the facility Duty Manager Teams.

6. Organise in service training of staff to ensure any contractual compliance and to achieve maximum efficiency and personal development.

7. Support the Sport and Leisure Manager in the development of Service Plans ,

Marketing plans and projects aimed at meeting Corporate Priorities to maximise performance and efficiency at each of the Sport and Leisure facilities in the district.

8 Ensuring that all legal, statutory and other relevant best practice provisions are complied with in respect of facility operations through appropriate Normal

Operating Procedures, Emergency Action Plans and relevant Risk Assessments being up to date and in place.

9. Acting as an Investigating Officer as required.

10. Monitoring of hiring, admission and membership charges amongst other providers in the Council catchment area, and making recommendations to the

Sport and Leisure Manager on variations, promotions and improvements.

11. Implementing agreed programmes and initiatives aligned to market demand and working with the Sport and Leisure Manager and teams in maximising use of facilities and associated income.

12. Security of all cash, stock and ensuring control of web based and other financial systems for collection of revenue.

13. Supporting the Sport and Leisure Manager in the annual review and budget preparation process and maintaining effective control of approved expenditure and forecast income.

14. Supporting the Sport and Leisure Manager in establishing partnership activities and initiatives as directed in maximising facility usage and participation levels in the district.

15. Organising regular consultation with facility users and non users to measure customer satisfaction and inform service improvement.

16. Ensuring effective workforce communication is in place and staff teams engaged through regular team meetings and other corporate communication channels.

17. Reporting to the Sport and Leisure Manager on Facility operations as required.

18. Acting as a lead officer as directed in achieving quality awards and completion of performance improvement related self assessments for the Leisure Service facilities.

19. Working with the Community Lifestyles Officer on initiatives in the Council area.

20. Developing marketing communications using profiling tools and associated use of social and digital media including Internet and Intranet services.

21. Undertaking benchmarking as directed.

General

22. Assist in the training and development of new members of staff as required.

23. Attend any relevant training courses and conferences as required.

24. To carry out all duties with an awareness and regard to Health and Safety issues and adhere to safe systems of work specified in the Council's Safety Policy.

SPECIAL FEATURES OF THE POST

Flexible approach to time of work, with ability to work evenings and weekends as required by the needs of the service.

You may be required to carry out those duties at your present workplace or at another Council venue.

QUALIFICATIONS/TRAINING:

ESSENTIAL

1. CIMSPA Membership Certificate level examination ( Prev Institute of Sport and Recreation Management )

2. Willingness to complete CIMSPA Diploma Level certificate.

3. First Aid Certificate (within 6 months)

4. Defibrillator Certificate (within 6 months)

DESIRABLE

1. ECDL

2. Certificate in Management Studies.

3. RLSS Trainer Assessor

4. ISRM Pool Plant Operator Cert

5. Full Driving Licence
