EYE SAFETY (NO CONTACT LENSES)
Safety glasses approved type by ANSI-Z-71 are to be worn at all times when in a work area or outdoors.
Goggles are to be worn in designated areas and in certain conditions such as high winds (dust or particulate
hazard.) Safety glasses must be worn when entering production areas, buildings, maintenance shops,
construction sites, when there is a chance of liquids being splashed into your eyes. When grinding, painting,
chipping, during the use of any hand tool, etc. you are required to wear safety glasses and a face shield, not
goggles. When blasting you are required to wear safety glasses under the hood.
With safety glasses, NO slip-on side shields are allowed. If prescription glasses are worn, you must
wear safety glasses made to fit over the glasses or wear goggles. Contact lenses are strictly prohibited.
In the event of a chemical splash in your eyes, get to water and flush out the eye immediately at the
nearest facility (i.e., Eye wash station). Use force to separate the eyelids in order for the water to rinse
the eye. Do this for approximately 15 minutes, then report to the first aid station.
Should you receive a foreign body in your eye report to the First Aid station immediately. Do not try to
remove the object yourself.
