Appointment Bull

FRANCIS

BISHOP

SERVANT OF THE SERVANTS OF GOD

To Our beloved son, Bohdan Danylo , presbyter of the Eparchy of Stamford of the

Ukrainians, until now Rector there of the Seminary of St. Basil the Great, appointed Bishop of the Eparchial See of Saint Josaphat in Parma of the Ukrainians, greetings and Apostolic

Blessing.

Holding in great esteem the traditions and ecclesiastical heritage of the Oriental Churches and earnestly desiring to accompany and promote them, We, Who by Divine Providence have followed blessed Peter in primacy over the Church Universal, at this time turn our attention to the pastoral needs of the Flock of Saint Josaphat in Parma of the Ukrainians, whose Ordinary, Our Venerable Brother Robert Mikhail Moskal, resigned from the office of governing it. Indeed, We look to you, beloved Son, who have clearly manifested the requisite qualities of mind and heart as well as a way of accomplishing things with great pastoral zeal.

Therefore, upon consultation with the Congregation for the Oriental Churches, by Our

Apostolic authority We appoint you Bishop of the Eparchial See of Saint Josaphat in

Parma of the Ukrainians , granting to you all the faculties and rights and also imposing the obligations, which are connected with this mandate in accordance with the norms of the Code of Canons of the Eastern Churches. As to your Ordination, the Profession of Faith, and the

Promise of Obedience toward Us and Our Successors, you will follow exactly the established norms of the aforementioned Code. In addition, it is our desire that you inform the clergy and the faithful entrusted to your care about this Our decree.

Finally, as you carefully carry out each day the will of God, We encourage all of you to follow attentively the saving precepts of Christ, together with the intercession of the Blessed

Virgin Mary, who "by her maternal charity...cares for the brethren of her Son who still journey on earth surrounded by dangers and difficulties, until they are led to their happy fatherland" (Lumen Gentium 62).

Given at Rome, at Saint Peter's, on the seventh day of the month of August, in the year of the

Lord two thousand fourteen, the second of our Pontificate.
