2014 Miss St. James Parish Relay for Life Pageant

There will be a Social on Sunday, April 6, 2014

At the social, each contestant will fill out an application, sign the contract and photogenic pictures will
be taken. Entry fees will be turned in at this time as well.
 Contestants under 18 must have the contract signed by a parent or guardian.

Pageant Day
1:15 pm- Miss Contestants arrive at Gramercy Elementary School for Interviews
1:25 pm- Teen Contestants arrive at Gramercy Elementary School for Interviews
3:00 pm- Pageant begins
(Stage hair and makeup can be worn for interview because of the time constraints.)
Contestants will participate in these areas of competition:

Interview: Teen- 6 minutes, Miss- 8 minutes

On-stage Introduction: No longer than 10 seconds.

Formal wear: Floor length evening gown of your choice.
Side awards include:




Congeniality- Voted on by all contestants in all four divisions.
Fashion- Selected by Judges, one winner in each division.
Photogenic- Selected by Judges, one winner in each division.
People’s Choice- Votes are purchased at the pageant for $1.00.
Contestant Rules and Regulations
If chosen as St. James Parish Relay for Life Queen, I, _________________________ will abide by the following rules:
1.
Queen will attend the 2015 St. James Parish Relay for Life and the 2015 St. James Parish Relay for Life Pageant. She
will work the Queens for a Cure booth and be available for any needs the Relay for Life committee may require.

Miss and Teen Queen must attend at least 10 events (i.e., pageants, festivals, fairs, Relay events) including:
i.
St. James Parish Relay for Life
ii.
St. James Parish Pageant
iii.
Festival of the Bonfires (Pageant and Festival)
iv.
St. John Queen of Hope Pageant
v.
Ascension Parish Relay for Life Pageant
Queens are required to participate in fundraising events to raise money for our Queens for a Cure Team.
Some Fundraisers may include:
i.
Football pools
ii.
School Participation
iii.
Donation letters to friends/family/businesses
2.
All invitations received should be shared between Miss and Teen Queens. Queens are required to communicate with
director each event they plan to attend. If you RSVP to an event, you MUST attend that event or contact the invitee
to let them know you will not be attending.
3.
Queen will maintain a lady like image at all times while representing St. James Parish Relay for Life and The American
Cancer Society. Throughout the year as Queen, the following will not be allowed to occur without forfeiting title:

a.
Marry or become pregnant.
b.
Be arrested- any offense.
c.
Use profanity at any time in public.
d.
Disrespect ANY FESTIVAL or committee member.
e.
Consume alcohol or tobacco products while representing St. James Parish Relay for Life.
f.
Live with any males other than, father or brother. No exceptions.
g.
Move out of the state of Louisiana.
h.
Have reports of misconduct from other pageant directors, board members, or city/town dignitaries.
i.
Not fulfilling the above mentioned mandatory fundraiser events or mandatory functions.
All social networking sites, i.e., Facebook, Twitter, etc. must be kept respectable at all times. No provocative or
explicit photos, including swimsuits, absolutely no pictures of you smoking or pictures that could assume you have
alcohol in a glass/cup/container. Pictures of you with males or females that can be portrayed in a sexual manner are
totally prohibited. Vulgar abbreviations, subtitles or captions are prohibited. Queen is responsible for removing all
tagged photos deemed inappropriate. Queen’s personal account will be monitored by director. Upon winning St.
James Parish Relay for Life Queen, you have 24 hours to address your social networking sites. At any time, the
director has the right to discuss with you content deemed inappropriate and it must be removed immediately.
5.
Queen may not hold any other title or compete for any other title, other than a school pageant. If you choose to
compete for Miss St. James Parish Relay for Life and win, and you currently hold another title, you must immediately
relinquish your other title and only represent the St. James Parish Relay for Life title.
Queen is responsible for the maintenance & upkeep of the St. James Parish Relay for Life crown. Any damage caused
while in possession as St. James Relay for Life queen, other than normal wear, Queen, will be required to pay for all
shipping/repair expense. Absolutely no hairspray will be used while crown in being worn.
6.
Should for any reason failure to carry out, any, but not limited to the above contracted requirements, the Pageant
Board has the right to revoke title and all awards, gifts, crowns, and banners immediately returned to the director
within one week of notification of forfeit. The title will then be passed on to the next contestant with the highest
score who is not holding a title.
7.
Immediately following the pageant, Queen is to remain to take pictures, meet with pageant director and the Relay
for Life committee.
CONTESTANT MUST SIGN BELOW- CONTESTANTS UNDER THE AGE OF 18 MUST HAVE PARENT/GUARDIAN SIGNITURE AND
THEIR PARENT/GUARDIAN MUST HAVE READ THE CONTRACT.
I have read the above and forgoing contract and fully understand the terms and conditions if chosen Queen. I
promise to abide by all the above throughout my reign. I will not hold the festival, pageant or pageant committee responsible
for any injury or loss to myself or to my personal property while competing, traveling or representing St. James Parish Relay for
Life. Should for any reason questions arise about any of the above contract, I will ask the pageant director and will receive her
approval before acting.
By signing below I indicate my desire to accept these terms and conditions and be bound by them should I win the
title of 2014 St. James Parish Relay for Life Queen.
