9th Public Art Project for
New Orlando Police Station Headquarters
Call For Artists
ORLANDO, Fl – April 13, 2015 Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer is proud to announce a the addition of a ninth
public sculpture as part of the SEE ART ORLANDO initiative, a community project designed to enhance
the aesthetic experience and cultural image of Downtown Orlando through the installation of iconic
works of art throughout the city core. This new contemporary sculpture will be reflective of the service
of Orlando police officers to their community, conveying a message of honor, appreciation and
community service, and will be located adjacent to the new Orlando Police Department Headquarters
building on the SE corner of Orange Blossom Trail and South Street. The sculpture is currently scheduled
to be installed in the fall of 2016.
“The response to the original eight See Art sculptures from residents, visitors and community at large
has been overwhelmingly positive and we are thrilled to continue this initiative to enhance the thriving
art movement in our community.”
SEE ART ORLANDO has launched a Call to Artists for the new Orlando Police Department sculpture,
soliciting applications from artists all over the world in order to reflect the most current contemporary
art being created locally, nationally and internationally. Sculpture submissions should reflect the vision
and creative environment of the Orlando community and its vibrant culture. Applications, artist
requirements and additional information can be found at www.SeeArtOrlando.com. The deadline for
application submissions is July 1, 2015.
SEE ART ORLANDO is a non-profit organization comprised of community leaders who represent a cross
section of arts organizations, including United Arts, Downtown Arts District and Florida Theatrical
Association. Each installation was underwritten by corporate sponsors and maintained by the City of
Orlando without utilizing taxpayer dollars. See Art Orlando board members include Orlando Mayor
