POSITION SUMMARY:

Provide supervision of support services staff (including student workers) in the learning/testing centers at the

Rolla and Sullivan sites. Coordinate and/or provide coverage of support services including testing, student enhancement and enrichment activities, and other needs at the Rolla and Sullivan sites as assigned.

ESSENTIAL TASKS:

 Provide supervision of support services staff (including student workers) in the learning/testing centers at

 the Rolla and Sullivan sites under the direction of the Director, ECC-Rolla/Sullivan.

Assist with development, implementation, and monitoring of procedures of the Learning/Testing Center in

Rolla and Sullivan.

Monitor activity throughout the Learning/Testing Center to help ensure a professional and student focused learning environment.

Responsible for recruiting, hiring, scheduling and training of qualified tutors in Math, English, and additional subjects if needed at Rolla and Sullivan. Will also conduct consultations for continuing student workers and track each student tutor’s progress towards certification.

Oversee outreach efforts to enhance the learning environment at ECC, including classroom visits, workshops and presentations for Rolla and Sullivan.

Coordinate publicity and publications for the Rolla and Sullivan Learning/Testing Center, including web page, newsletter, and brochure updates.

Assist with recommendations for installation and maintenance of computer software and other equipment and supplies in the Rolla and Sullivan Learning/Testing Center.

Assist with collection and maintenance of usage statistics and tutoring records in the Rolla and Sullivan

Learning/Testing Center. Maintain accurate and detailed records of tutoring sessions in online tracking

 software program.

Responsible for planning, preparing, and providing onsite coordination for additional learning support services, including retention projects and orientation activities at Rolla and Sullivan.

Help students with development of time management, test taking strategies and study skills.

Responsible for planning and implementing Learning/Testing Center activities for Welcome Week, inservice, etc, at Rolla and Sullivan.

Provide assistance to students learning to use computers, particularly with word processing, presentation or course management software, and assist students with instructional computer assisted programs and computer access issues (usernames, passwords, etc).

Provide assistance to students completing online registration after having met with an academic advisor.

Administer and monitor tests and maintain files/documentation of testing materials in Testing Center.

Assist with the assessment process including scheduling and administering placement tests at Rolla and

Sullivan, scoring, data entry, and reports.

Assist with administering and scheduling a variety of tests at Rolla and Sullivan: CAAP, WorkKeys,

CBASE, Accuplacer, CLEP (College Level Examination Program); dual credit subject tests and tests in various disciplines for ECC and non-ECC distance learning purposes as requested.

Ensure that all activities are conducted within the established guidelines of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).

Perform assigned responsibilities, duties, and tasks according to established practices, procedures, techniques, and standards in a safe manner and with minimal supervision.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES:

 Assist Director of ECC-Rolla/ECC-Sullivan with onsite supervision of daily operations at the Sullivan site.

Coordinate with Learning/Testing Center staff at the main campus regarding several items: new and prospective tutors, assessment testing, dual- credit assessment testing, and training requirements as requested.

Teach 1 – 2 hours Foundation Seminar courses each semester and conduct seminars on goal setting,

 study skills, learning styles and related topics.

Assist front desk and student services at Sullivan and Rolla as needed.

Assist instructors in using equipment such as copier, fax machine, AV equipment, and computer lab as necessary.

Proctor/monitor classes for absent faculty, when requested by the Director of Rolla/Sullivan.

Adjustment of hours involving evening and/or weekend work may be required

Perform other duties as may be assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:

 Knowledge of department and college policies, procedures, and practices with the ability to answer work

 related questions.

Excellent customer service skills

Knowledge of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).

Ability to apply principles of logical thinking to identify and express problems, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and develop solutions from alternative methods and procedures.

Thorough detailed knowledge of Mathematics, English, and/or other qualified areas in order to assist

 students.

Knowledge of Scientific Calculators.

Ability to handle confidential matters.

Some knowledge of learning disabilities with regards to making referrals, providing necessary accommodations and complying with ADA regulations.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Good organizational and time management skills

Ability to provide encouraging and supportive educational atmosphere for students.

 Perform specialized technical work involving data collection, evaluation, analysis, and troubleshooting, or reports on operations and activities of a department, or performs general coordination of individual or departmental activities.

EQUIPMENT/SOFTWARE:

 Use office machines such as telephones, fax machines, copiers or calculators.

Use computers for data entry and Microsoft XP, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook), or custom applications.

Use of scientific calculators.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is in an indoor environment.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

 While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.

The employee is occasionally required to walk or stand.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

The position may also require close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, and LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS: (A comparable amount of training, education or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.)

Completion of bachelor's degree

One year related experience

Must possess a valid driver’s license
