Office for Students with Disabilities (OSD) 2013 Satisfaction Survey Results Summary – DRAFT
At the end of the 2013 winter semester, the OSD launched a student satisfaction survey to get a better
understanding of where our office stands with our students, whether students are getting the help
needed to succeed on campus and whether something is lacking. Over 300 (or 25%) of students
registered with the OSD completed the survey and here are the top identified issues:

Does the OSD help students succeed?
- Over 80% reported that OSD services and procedures helps them attain their academic goals
Perceptions of Faculty Support for Students with Disabilities:
- 50% of respondents reported that instructors are sometimes sensitive to their needs
- 40% feel included in class delivery and evaluation is some courses
Life beyond McGill:
- ½ of the respondents preparing for field placements have concerns about barriers in employment
after graduating from McGill

Better communication between the OSD, Faculties and other services on campus
Improve exam accommodation conditions, including better contact with professors and
increased awareness amongst invigilators of how to effectively respond to students in various
situations
