plan to work with your shirts on...Ladies, please no short shorts, or tank tops)- see Dress

• Flashlight
• Battery operated alarm clock- NO PHONES
• Reusable Water bottle
-Imagine spending all day outside in Houston- the weather is VERY similar and you’ll
need to stay hydrated.
• Church Clothes
• Men: Slacks, shirt with collar
• Ladies: Conservative dress or skirt & nice shirt
• Towels/washcloths
• Pillow (or you can use a towel)
• Camera/Film (extra camera batteries)
• Bathing Suit (see dress code)
• Baseball glove (opt.)
• Spending Money ($50-$100)(Please bring
cash, NO traveler’s checks or credit cards)
• A flexible attitude
• Flip-flops for the shower
• Extra batteries
• Sunglasses
• Baby powder
The following list contains things that many teams wish they had thought to bring:
• Passport pouch to wear around neck
• A photo of self/family to show new friends that they meet
• Gifts for the missionaries
• Imodium (or other diarrhea medicine) & laxative medicine
• Dramamine (Recommended if you get motion sickness, for the plane and also for the
curvy ride across the mountains from Santiago to Puerto Plata)
• Clothes to give away (nice shorts, shirts, hats, dresses, shoes, makeup…)
• Contact solution
• Feminine products
• Aloe Vera
•A small fan- GUYS dorms do NOT have Air Conditioning.
Save space in your luggage by leaving the following at home:
• Expensive jewelry
• MP3 players/Ipods
• Gaming system
• cell phones/Trio/ Blackberry/IPhone
• laptops
• Anything else that could exclude you from the rest of the group
• A bunch of junk food
• Clothes that are inappropriate
DRESS CODE
Please know that all leaders and GO Ministries staff will strictly enforce this dress code. These
limitations are not given to make packing and dressing difficult, but rather to accommodate
for the differences in culture. Plainly put, things that are appropriate in America are not
appropriate to wear in the Dominican Republic so please follow dress code.
Girls:
•Absolutely no tank tops or exposed shoulders
•Bathing suits must be one piece, or have a dark t-shirt over a 2 piece
•The bottom of your shorts cannot be higher than 4 inches above your kneecap. (No Nike
running shorts- instead, wear basketball shorts.)
Guys:
•No speedos, obviously.
•No cutoff shirts- you also must cover your shoulders
•No sagging pants
RULES
1. No iphones/ipods or other electronics after we depart from Miami.
2. Corner shops | Do not go without a group of people and/or an adult.
3. Adults shower FIRST after work teams every day.
4. Clean up dishes and trash – even if its not yours! We are here to serve.
5. Be respectful to G.O. Ministries staff and any adult leader.
6. Clean up your area around your bed | Keep your stuff in order.
7. ABSOLUTELY, no alcohol or drugs
a. If this rule is broken, we will fly the student home immediately.
8. Embrace any and every chance to serve! We are there to serve one another, the G.O.
Ministries staff, and the people of the Dominican Republic.
