Postdoctoral Fellowship in Immunology / Surgery
The Division of Trauma and Critical Care at Northwestern University is seeking a qualified individual for
a newly available Postdoctoral/Research Associate position in the laboratory of Steven Schwulst.
Qualified applicants will possess a PhD, MD/PhD, or MD as well as experience in immunology or
neuroimmunology. The projects focus on the role of innate immunity in traumatic brain injury (TBI).
More specifically, our laboratory focuses on macrophage and microglia polarization and its effect on
both the peripheral immune response as well as the repair and regeneration response within the
injured brain. To further this goal, we utilize a murine model traumatic brain injury as well as multiple
immunologic assays, histologic assays, and advanced multichannel flow cytometry. To be competitive
for this position, the applicant must have significant experience with advanced flow cytometry and
have excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Previous familiarity with a variety of
immunologic assays, transgenic mouse models, as well as biochemical and molecular biological
techniques is preferable. Northwestern University offers a highly stimulating intellectual and
collaborative environment for cutting-edge research.
Applicants should email their cover letter, CV, and list of references to Steven J. Schwulst, MD at the
