QPI – EPSB Quality Performance Index
Discussion:
 Student response is a concern on New Teacher Survey; resource teachers also participate and they indicate they aren’t satisfied.
 Concern across state that this performance indicator is not valid and is only one set of 4 measures of many.
 We need to drill down on our Praxis pass rate to identify areas we can improve
Action Items:
 Send QPI information to faculty on a yearly basis, including New Teacher
Survey information (Chairs – ASAP)
 Present New Teacher Survey opportunity to respond to student teachers at their seminars and encourage participation (Dean)
Professors in the Schools – Update and Application Process
Discussion:
 The vision for this program was for every teacher education faculty to participate over time, once every three years
 What have the faculty who have participated learned? Do we have data to tell us that? What have we learned from the participants?
Action Items:
 Review current process and revise so that the results are shared o Consider the Teacher Academy model like KLA, where teacher educators across the state come for a 1-week academy with a focus on practice and research o Consider a workshop with a 2-page summary of each faculty experience, distributed as the program
Diversity Conference
 October 13, 8-4:00; CoE is co-sponsoring this conference
 Alumni Panel: Ginni Fox (Commissioner), Billie Travis (Teacher of the Year),
Steven Lin (Band director, EPSB member), Frank Welch (Superintendent
Pike Co), Joe Dan Gold (Superintendent Morgan Co), Teresa Unseld (art educator) – 3 minority alumni
Action Items:
 Invite all CoE classes to participate (Dean)
