James Kenneth Taylor (1865 – 1941)
James Kenneth Taylor was born October 1st 1865 to Henry Taylor and Anna Keeney in York, York
County Pennsylvania. 1 He was baptized January 3rd 1892 by Rev J.R. Jones of Innersville (known today
as Spry) York County Pennsylvania. James died January 1st 1941, at the age of 76 years old. James was
laid to rest in the Yoe Cemetery (6C 10), Yoe Borough, York Township, York County Pennsylvania.
James lived in Glen Rock Shrewsbury Township, Innerville, Paradise, and York, York Township, all in
York County Pennsylvania. He also lived at 705 Chestnut Street in the city of York. In 1930 James
owned is home, had a business, and worked for the York Daily.
James married Emma Jane Hengst 2 on July 13th 1886 by Rev. Niles. They applied for the marriage
license on July 10th 1886. 3 Emma was born November 19th 1857 to John Hengst and Fianna Knaub in
Jacobus York County Pennsylvania. 4
Emma was at 76 years, 8 months, and 26 days on August 14th 1934 when she died in York, York County
Pennsylvania. She was laid to rest with her husband in the Yoe Union Cemetery (6C 10), Yoe Borough,
York Township, York County Pennsylvania. The information on her death certificate was provided by her
husband, James K. Taylor. 5
James then married Margaret, who was 54 in 1940 (b. 1886), and in 1935 lived in Fredrick County
Maryland. James died January 1st 1941 in York, York County Pennsylvania. The information on James’s
death certificate was made by his son, Harold Taylor. 6
All of the James and Emma Taylor children’s names, spelling, birth and baptized dates were obtained
from the James and Emma Taylor Family Bible. 7 In 1920 Edna, Hellen, and Austin were the only
children that were not living with the family.
i. Ada Idella Taylor (in family photo) was born December 18th 1886, and baptized on February 27th
1887 by Rev Hengst in Paradise Pennsylvania. Ada Married Woofen Grady (Woody) Vaughn.
Woody was born July 9th 1889.
In 1924 Ada and Woody lived at 745 Piedmont Avenue in Atlanta Georgia, where Woody was a
bookkeeper. 8In 1961 the family lived in Silver Springs Maryland. 9
Ada was a Corporal and Woody was a Private in the Army. Woody died May 6th 1968, and Ada
September 16th 1974. They were both laid to rest in the Baltimore National Cemetery, Plot L, 0,
2165. 10

ii. Austin James Taylor (in family photo) was born April 7th 1889, and baptized on June 9th 1889 by
Rev J.D. Killian. He married Bessie May Einsig.
iii. Edna Grace Taylor was born July 3rd 1892, and baptized on August 20th 1892 by Rev Ed Keener.
Edna married John J. Foller and in 1961 the family lived in Richmond Virginia. 12
iv. Florence Estella Taylor was born November 21st 1894, and baptized on February 7th 1895 by Rev
L. Dice. Florence married Erwin Edward Young on June 29th 1920 by Rev Harry Minisk. 13
v. Mabel Minerva Taylor (in family photo) was born April 21st 1896, and baptized on August 16th
1896 by Rev Ed Keener. Mabel married Earl Izer on November 8th 1924. 14
vi. Helen May Taylor was born November 8th 1897, and died 8 hours after birth. Hellen was laid to
rest in the Yoe Union Cemetery (6C 10), Yoe Borough York, York County Pennsylvania.
vii. Emma Leonia Taylor (in family photo) was born December 22nd 1898, and baptized on September
18th 1900. Emma married Harry N. L. Shearer on November 30th 1922. 15 They lived in
Baltimore Maryland. Harry was a railroad engineer, and in 1940 the family lived at 16 Keswick
Road Baltimore Maryland.

b. Nancy Shearer was born in 1933.
viii. Herold DeWitt Taylor (in family photo) was born February 17th 1901, and was baptized on
March 16th 1901. Herold married Verna E. Rupp on June 27th 1922. 16
ix. Dwight Clement Taylor (in family photo) was born January 9th 1903, and baptized on August 30th
1903. Dwight married Gladys I. Sechrist on December 12th 1948 in York County Pennsylvania.17

Kenneth Hengst Taylor (in family photo) was born February 22nd 1904, and baptized on October
4th 1905. Kenneth married Margaret Marea Riedel, who was born in 1904. In 1940 the family
lived 1498 Terrace Street in West York Pennsylvania. Ken was a printer for a local box company.
Ken died January 8th 1972, and Margaret died in 1994. They were laid to rest in the Suburban
Memorial Gardens, 3875 Bull Road, Dover York County Pennsylvania.

MECHANICSBURG Robert Dale Taylor, 70, of Silver Spring Township, went home to be with the Lord
Thursday, December 20, 2007, at Holy Spirit Hospital. Mr. Taylor was born in York, on November 24,
1937, the son of the late Kenneth H. and Margaret M. Taylor. He was a graduate of York High School and
attended York College. Robert was the former President and owner of Colt Plumbing Mechanicsburg
Auto Drive Sales and Service of Carlisle. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of
Mechanicsburg and the S and M Hunting Club. Robert was an avid outdoorsman, gardener, bird watcher,
and sports fan. Robert is survived by his wife, Mary E. Taylor; a son, Douglas Taylor of New York; a
daughter, Julie Keech and husband, Brian of Virginia; two stepsons, Jeffrey Heiges and wife, Rhonda of
Mechanicsburg, and Daryl Heiges and wife, Jan of Mechanicsburg; a sister, Delores Nonemaker of
Mifflintown; grandchildren, Chase and Cole Keech, and Kallie, Blake, Hannah, and Ridge Heiges; and
nieces and nephews. Graveside funeral services will be held in Suburban Memorial Gardens, 3875 Bull
Road, Dover, on Friday at 1 p.m.

14th 1909. Francis married Alverta I. Geesey of Dallastown on October 6th 1936 by T.H. Ressler.
Francis was a printer at time of marriage. 19 Alverta was born about 1902 to Daniel L. Geesey
and Mary J. Williams of Dallastown York County Pennsylvania.
Austin James Taylor (1889 – 1974)
This is my wife’s grandfather
Austin James Taylor was born April 17th 1889. He died July 1974, and was laid to rest in the Mt Rose
Cemetery in the city of York, York County Pennsylvania. Austin married Bessie May Einsig, and they
applied for their marriage license and married on the same day, September 2nd 1916. 20
Austin and Bessie were laid to rest in the Mt. Rose Cemtery, section E, Lot 313, west 1/2, in space 3 and
4. (Austin is in space 4 and Bessie in space 3) Austin FAG#126006800, Bessie FAG#126007086
Their children were:
i. Mildred May Taylor was born April 1st 1918 in the city of York, York County Pennsylvania. She
died July 17th 1919, and was laid to rest in the Mount Rose Cemetery, West 1/2 Lot 313, Section E
Deed #498, York Pennsylvania.
ii. Charlotte May Taylor was born 1919 in York, York County Pennsylvania. She married Donald
Wilt, and they had two boys: Donald and Timothy Wilt. March 3rd 2015 Propsect Hill Cemtery.

Kenneth James Henry Taylor (1921 – 1998)
This is my wife’s father
Kenneth (Bud) Henry James Taylor was born August 7th 1921 in the city of York, York County
Pennsylvania. He was baptized February 18th 1922. Ken married Jane Alice Hines, who he later
divorced in 1972, while my wife was attending Shippensburg College. Ken would late meet and marry
Maxine in 1978. Ken was a printer, and later in life a janitor for the City of York School District. He
would live near his sister on Albemarle Street, York Pennsylvania.
Ken died October 12th 1998, and was laid to rest in the Mount Rose Cemetery, York, York County
Pennsylvania. FAG#126006081 Ken and Jane Taylor lived in Mount Joy and Elizabethtown, Lancaster
County Pennsylvania.
Jane Alice Hines was born August 9th 1927 in York Pennsylvania. She was baptized April 1st 1928. She
married Kenneth Henry James Taylor. Jane died September 1st 2006, and was laid to rest in Mt. Rose
Cemetery, Section J, Lot 195, York Pennsylvania, next to her mother Irene Hines and Grandmother Hattie
Hines-Landis
While there they had two children.
i. Janelle Aileen Taylor was born November 10th 1953 at the Lancaster City Hospital, Lancaster
County Pennsylvania. Janelle attended Elizabethtown High School, and Shippensburg College in
Shippensburg, Franklin County Pennsylvania. While there she met Robert (Boog) Calvin
Graham, who she would later marry on October 13th 1977 in Hummelstown, Dauphin County
Pennsylvania. Together they had two sons: Justin Taylor Graham, and Ian Robert Graham.
Janelle and Boog live in York Springs, York County Pennsylvania.
ii. Susan Lynn Taylor was born December 16th 1954 at the Lancaster City Hospital, Lancaster
County Pennsylvania. Sue attended Elizabethtown High School, and later married Steven Waller
of Lancaster Pennsylvania. They live in Conestoga, Lancaster County Pennsylvania. Steve and
Sue have two daughters: Mallory Waller, and Stephanie Waller
