Español 4 AP/IB: ¡Práctica de AP en casa!
Una Comparación Cultural—Parte F (Presentational Speaking)
Instrucciones: Harás una comparación cultural en frente de uno de tus padres. É/ella no tiene que poder hablar español.
No más necesita escucharte, ofrecer un poco de comentario, y firmar que has completado la actividad, y después, tú vas a
completar una reflexión.
La primera vez, favor de darle esta nota a tu madre o padre:
Dear Parent/Guardian,
I have asked that your son or daughter do some of our AP Spanish Language preparation at home in the weeks before the
test, and specifically, that they complete a two-minute presentational speaking activity in front of you, and ask for your
feedback. This activity, in the test, is worth 12.5% of their overall score on the exam. It is perfectly all right if you do not
speak Spanish; the questions are designed to give the student feedback regardless of whether or not you do. Having to
speak Spanish in front of you, regardless of your own proficiency in the language, will help your student better formulate
their thoughts “on the fly”, and hopefully, lower their affective filter and not stumble on the test itself as much. Plus, you
know a good accent when you hear one. ;)
Please set aside a time to listen to them complete the activity (which comes from their AP Prep book) and time them (they
have 4 minutes to read the prompt and prepare on a notecard/sheet of paper, and then they must speak for exactly two
minutes), and sign and complete the brief questionnaire that follows. After you complete your portion, your student must
complete their own reflection, using the AP Presentational Speaking rubric I’ve given them.

Instructions for Completing the Cultural Comparison
Here are the instructions, straight from the AP Prep Book:
“You will make an oral presentation on a specific topic to your class. You will have 4 minutes to read the presentation
topic and prepare your presentation. Then you will have two minutes to record your presentation*.
In your presentation, compare your own community to an area of the Spanish-speaking world with which you are familiar.
You should demonstrate your understanding of cultural features of the Spanish-speaking world. You should also organize
your presentation clearly.”
*For this practice activity, you do not need to record your presentation. You MUST, however, give the entire thing
directly to one of your parents/guardians. If you work with a tutor for Spanish, this is also ok with me.
