IDENTIFYING AND SUPPORTING ‘AT RISK’ STUDENTS
This table is designed to identify a range of factors that are likely to impact on students’ success
rates. It provides guidance for curriculum staff by identifying the appropriate referral pathway,
recognising that each referral will be influenced by the individual circumstances of the student. It is
crucial that early risk signs are acted upon so that students can access appropriate support to help
them stay on course and achieve.
Purpose: Kirklees College aim to standardise our approach to identifying and working with
students at risk of not achieving. Wherever guidance is generated judgements must always be
made to ensure Equality and Diversity of our students is managed effectively.
Monitoring (Promonitor)
Promonitor provides a potential medium for stitching all the processes together e.g. BME/ ALS/
YOT/ NEETS/ LACS etc. All students are RAG green on entry; personal tutors responsible for
managing the tutorial provision are responsible for managing the identifying at risk students and
updating Promonitor accordingly, using the guidance set out in this document. TLLS are
responsible for monitoring and supporting students identified at risk in their designated area.
