Learning Objectives








The participant will have an increased understanding of interventions and monitoring
during an emergency coronary angiogram.
The participant will have an increased understanding of the principles of the intraaortic balloon counterpulsation.
The participant will have an increased ability to monitor and care for a patient
undergoing therapeutic hypothermia.
The participant will have an increased ability to recognize and act on possible
complications related to therapeutic hypothermia.
The participant will be familiar with the physiology behind therapeutic hypothermia.
The participant will have an increased understanding of the process leading to
transition from various levels of care/intervention following neurological decline of a
patient post-therapeutic hypothermia.
The participant will feel comfortable in their ability to care for & support families during
transition to end-of-life care in the ICU.
Will allow the participant to diminish or challenge binding beliefs that hinder the
initiation of discussions regarding the transition of level of care/palliative care and
support for families during critical situations.
This event is approved for 5.5 hours of accredited continuing Nursing education by the
Office for Continuing Nursing Professional Education (CNPE), Ingram School of Nursing,
McGill University. The Office for CNPE is endorsed by the Office for Continuing Professional
Development (CPD), Faculty of Medicine, McGill University.
