1. GENERAL
The working environment throughout the Texas A&M Forest Service shall be free of all
forms of sexual discrimination and sexual harassment. Conduct which constitutes sexual
harassment is specifically prohibited by federal law, state law, and Texas A&M University
System policies. Employers are not only accountable for the conduct of their employees, but
also for the conduct of those individuals with whom their employees come in contact in the
course and scope of their employment. Generally, this means that we are responsible for
protecting our employees from sexual harassment by our customers, vendors, consultants,
and independent contractors. System Policy 08.01 Civil Rights Protections and Compliance,
contains the definition, responsibilities, and procedures for addressing sexual harassment
allegations. Texas A&M Forest Service encourages the reporting of all perceived incidents
of sexual harassment, regardless of the position of the alleged offender.
Retaliation of any kind against an individual who files a sexual harassment complaint and/or
an appeal is prohibited.
2. PROCEDURES FOR SEXUAL HARASSMENT COMPLAINTS
The sexual harassment complaint procedures to be followed by Texas A&M Forest Service
employees are contained in Administrative Procedure 10.10 Sexual Harassment Complaint
Processing.
3. ADMINISTRATION OF PROCEDURES
It is the responsibility of the Human Resources Department Head or designee to administer
and interpret the Sexual Harassment Complaint Processing Procedure for the Texas A&M
Forest Service.
Because the department head, Human Resources Department Head or designee, and/or the
Director may be informed of a Sexual Harassment Complaint in various ways, the Human
Resources Department Head is delegated the authority to administer the procedures in a
manner deemed appropriate by the facts of a particular sexual harassment complaint.
