• Assist staff by cleaning water buckets and feed tubs

Turn Out Groom, II (Supervisor: Amie Chenault, X6354, achenault@sbc.edu)
Tasks to be performed:
• Assist wing captain to bring in and turn out and groom horses in the early weekday
mornings
Academic prerequisites, skills, and experience needed:
• Horse handling
• Grooming
• Must be a "morning person"
• Hours: Approximately 7-9 a.m. two or three times per week
Closedown Worker, III (Supervisor: Amie Chenault, X6354, achenault@sbc.edu)
Tasks to be performed:
• Turn out horses
• Close and lock doors
• Feed horses
Academic prerequisites, skills, and experience needed:
• Detail oriented
• Basic horse care (RDPR 169)
• Must complete written test on stable procedures and rules
• Must work 2 to 4 hours per week
• Students applying to work at this position for the first time must provide one reference
from an instructor or stable manager who is familiar with your horse handling
skills.
• Must work weekdays, FALL hours are 6-8 p.m. Monday - Thursday; 5-7 p.m. Friday;
SPRING hours are 5-7 p.m. Monday - Thursday; 4-6 p.m. Friday
Stall Picker, I (Supervisor: Amie Chenault, X6354, achenault@sbc.edu)
Tasks to be performed:
• Pick up droppings in stalls late afternoons
Academic prerequisites, skills, and experience needed:
• Horse handling
• Must be available late afternoon (Mon. - Thurs. 3:30-5:30 p.m., Fridays 3-5 p.m.)
• Must work two hours per day, one or two days per week
Weekend Worker, IV (Supervisor: Amie Chenault, X6354, achenault@sbc.edu)
Tasks to be performed:
• Lunging and turnout
• Minor medications
• Feeding
• Stall picking
• Odd jobs
Academic prerequisites, skills, and experience needed:
• Detail oriented
• Basic horse care (RDPR 169)
• Must have first worked as a Closedown Worker or Turn Out Groom
• First time workers in this position must provide one reference from an instructor or
stable manager who is familiar with your horse handling skills
• Must complete written test on stable procedures and rules as well as complete skills
testing on pre-assigned date early in semester
• Work shifts such as: A.M. worker: 7:00 - 9:00 a.m. (2 people per weekend) / P.M.
Worker: 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. (1 per weekend)
• Must work 5 to 6 weekends per semester
Complete Body Clipping, IV (Supervisor: Amie Chenault, X6354,
achenault@sbc.edu)
Tasks to be performed:
• Cleaning up the horse beforehand in preparation for clipping
• Body clip the complete horse
• Must use own equipment
Academic prerequisites, skills, and experience needed:
• Prior experience in body clipping horses and references or demonstration of expertise
by clipping one horse at no charge
Trace Clipping, IV (Supervisor: Amie Chenault, X6354, achenault@sbc.edu)
Tasks to be performed:
• Cleaning up the horse in preparation for clipping
• Clip the underbelly, some chest and partial shoulders
• Must use own equipment

• Prior experience in body clipping horses and references or demonstration of expertise
by clipping one horse at no charge
Body Clipping, IV (Supervisor: Amie Chenault, X6354, achenault@sbc.edu)
Tasks to be performed:
• Cleaning up the horse in preparation for clipping
• Clip the body and head and neck of the horse but do not clip the legs
• Must use own equipment

• Prior experience in body clipping horses and references or demonstration of expertise
by clipping one horse at no charge
Clipping (Trim Only), II (Supervisor: Amie Chenault, X6354, achenault@sbc.edu)
Tasks to be performed:
• Cleaning up the horse in preparation for clipping
• Clip the body and head and neck of the horse but do not clip the legs
• Will use SBC equipment
Academic prerequisites, skills, and experience needed:
• Prior experience in body clipping horses and references or demonstration of expertise
by clipping one horse at no charge
Braiding, IV (Supervisor: Amie Chenault, X6354, achenault@sbc.edu)
Tasks to be performed:
• Be sure the mane is pulled to the correct length prior to braiding
• Braid the mane using the yarn provided
• Days/Hours Required: As needed. Hours and Days will vary.
Academic prerequisites, skills, and experience needed:
• Prior professional experience braiding for horse shows with references or braiding
one horse for our approval for no fee
Office Assistant, I (Supervisor: Emily Allen, x6116, eallen@sbc.edu)
Tasks to be performed:
• Filing
• Record horse health information
• Photocopying
• Clerical work
• Update computer generated statistical reports
• Assistance with setting up events
Academic prerequisites, skills, and experience needed:
• Ability to use Excel and Microsoft Word
• Attention to detail
• Hours and days to work may vary - two or three days per week
