“We are Called to be Disciples”
September 24, 2015
Dear Parents & Guardians,
Often times when parents and visitors enter our school, we are told that the St. Joan of Arc environment has a
positive and caring feel. This is one of the greatest compliments that a school community can receive, however,
as a product of the good work happening at St. Joan of Arc, our community continues to experience significant
growth. This September, we registered over twenty students in a variety of grade levels. To accommodate this
continued growth in 2015-2016, we were recently informed by the school division that effective Monday,
September 28th, we will add an additional classroom to St. Joan of Arc School. We are excited to share that Ms.
Victoria Parisien will be joining us as our new Grade 4 teacher.
At St. Joan of Arc, we make decisions with our central purpose in mind, and this purpose is student wellbeing.
Adding an additional teacher to our building will require that a number of our students transition to a different
classroom. It is our firm belief that all of our staff members have unique strengths and we work with
determination both individually and collectively to offer every child a great education. While we recognize that
this is a challenging task early in a school year, we believe that our students will benefit over the course of the
school year ahead. In addition to adjustments that some students will experience, three of our teachers have
been asked to change their teaching assignments.
Our new classroom arrangements are as follows. Classrooms affected by staffing changes or student
placements are noted.

Classroom changes go into effect on Monday, September 28th. Students were notified of these changes today at
2:25 pm and we plan to help them move to their new classrooms toward the end of the day on Friday,
September 25th. Please contact Mr. Brown at 306-791-7350 or m.brown@rcsd.ca if you have questions about
your child’s placement. Our staff has worked collaboratively to plan for this transition, and careful
consideration was given in arriving at new student placements.
While change may raise uncertainty for some, we believe that over time these changes will benefit all students.
It is inevitable that some students will be required to change classrooms. We appreciate your anticipated
understanding and support during this transition period.
*Note: We will be in contact with Life Touch regarding the possibility of taking new class group photos.
Sincerely,
Mr. Brown and Ms. Appell
