BROOKLYN DREAMS CHARTER SCHOOL--SPECIALS SPECTATOR--NOVEMBER 2013
Happy Fall Scholars and Families!
We have been very active this year in
Physical Education! So far we have
demonstrated endurance during our
PACER Test, practiced our throwing
technique with footballs, rocked our
loco-motor skills with hoola hoops and
worked our muscular strength riding
scooters. Next we will be working
more specifically on good throwing
technique for our lower grades and on
our basketball skills for upper school.
Annual Scholastic Book Fair:
Dear BDCS Families,
It is November already, a month to give
thanks around! I want to thank all the
scholars and their supportive families in
learning Mandarin!
My scholars, which I am so proud of, just
finished learning Greetings and Numbers. In
November, they are going to learn a new
Theme: Families. Meanwhile scholars will also
experience the family culture difference
between China and the US.
Once again, thank you for your support and
please provide your scholar with a Mandarin
notebook to use. I will collect the notebooks
from classroom teacher during Nov. 12th to
Nov. 15th.
Sincerely,
Ms. Gao

Just a reminder about the art schedule, 3rd
through 6th grade will have art the second half
of the year, starting in January.
The Ceramic Silent Auction coming up at the
Barns and Noble Book Sale Saturday
November 16, 2013. There will be handmade
ceramic plates for bid; constructed by the art
students in the Ceramic Elective Course.
Attention K-2 Families: The art room is in need
of some basic supplies: wet wipes, Clorox table
wipes, paper towel, and plastic gallon size
bags. If you can make a donation, please have
your child bring in the supplies to the art room
and label them “ART ROOM and your CHILD’S
NAME.” Thank you for your support.
Artfully Yours, Ms. Burmeister
Dear Families,
Band is off to a great start! Middle school band
is meeting twice a week on Tuesdays and
Thursdays. Please remember to have your
instruments on those days. The only time
electives would be cancelled is due to
Assemblies, Testing, or No School.
Fourth grade band started last week and is
happening on Mondays or Tuesdays depending
on instrument. If you have any questions or
concern, please let me know.
K-3 students have been working wonderfully
on our Orff instruments (small xylophones).
Everyone will soon be getting back into
keyboard playing. Stay tuned for
opportunities to hear them play!
Musically Yours,
Mrs. Basescu

Story Pajama
Drive
Kick Off and End Date
November 1 – December 2, 2013
The Great Bedtime Pajama Drive:
Pajama Program is a nonprofit organization that provides new books and NEW UNWORN pajamas to children in need, many who are waiting and hoping to be adopted. Since 2001, Pajama Program
has donated over one million pajamas and books to children nationwide.
HOW IT WORKS:
Your class collects NEW UNWORN pajamas for donation to the Pajama Program. Each time you donate a pair of pajamas, we send a book directly to the Pajama Program.
WHAT WE NEED:
 Brand-new unworn pajamas in all sizes, from newborn to adult.
 Pajamas should be a complete set—a top and bottom, or an appropriate nightgown.
 Pajamas for all seasons, especially for the winter months.
