Ballade of Women: Embodying Perspectives on Women’s Rights
Ballade of Women is an interactive installation that explores women’s rights from a
female perspective. The design builds on concepts of embodiment and active
perception to create an engaging and immersive interactive experience. Visitors
become part of - and are actors in - a dynamic landscape that shapes around them.
Digital representations of three paintings, each linked to a theme in women’s rights,
are presented in a fragmented and three-dimensional way, floating in space. Each of
the fragments can rotate individually, actively resisting by visitors to view the
paintings as a whole. The paintings only reveal themselves briefly at selected times to
individual visitors. Furthermore, a software crawler embeds real-time data sourced
from blogs and social media regarding discussions aorund the main themes.
Through the spatial dimensions and complexity of interaction, visitors become active
participants in the exhibition, actively engaging with the content and forced to take a
stance and reflect on the topic.
