It’s Time to Clean Up Williston Again
With the dog days of summer coming to an end, it’s time to clean up the city in
preparation for Chokecherry Festival and the Babe Ruth World Series in Williston.
Clean-up Williston Day, a semi-annual event where the community comes together
to help beautify the city by cleaning thoroughfares, sidewalks, parks and schools
will take place for a second time this year on Saturday, August 3rd beginning at
8:30 a.m. Everyone from the community is invited to come out and volunteer their
time.
Volunteers should meet in the parking lot of Aafedt Stadium at 8:30 a.m. to collect
cleaning supplies, gloves and to be assigned an area to clean-up. Free lunch,
including burgers, hot dogs, salads, beverages and all the fixins’ will be available to
all volunteers at Davidson Park following the clean-up at 11:30 a.m. Volunteers will
also receive a coupon valid for one free session to the World Series. “It’s always so
nice to see the turn out for Clean-Up Williston Day,” said Dan Manjack, Chairman of
the Clean City Committee. “Come and be part of the solution so we can continue to
take pride in our community.”
Once again, oil companies and local businesses will be assisting with the clean-up.
Pacific Steel and Recycling, located at 13904 West Front Street will also be taking
part in the effort once again. They will be open from 8 a.m.-2 p.m., accepting
anything metal, including: appliances, automobiles, batteries, electronics and
aluminum cans.
A special thanks to Walmart, OK Distributing Co. and Mountrail-Williams Electric
Cooperative for donating beverages and garbage bags, and JMAC Resources for
providing grills and their grilling skills to help make this event a success!
For those unable to attend Clean-up Williston Day but still wanting to get involved,
simply making an effort to help keep the city clean by not littering and picking up
trash when found would be a great help. For questions regarding Clean-up Williston
Day, contact Rachel Sawicki at 701-577-8110 or rachels@ci.williston.nd.us.
