Position Description:
The Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer is a key technical leader responsible for working with Suppliers, Contract Manufactures,
Design Engineering, Operations and Supply Chain for the selection of qualified suppliers and improvement of supplier performance to provide a
positive impact on the quality of new and existing products. In addition, this role will plan, organize, direct and report on all supplier qualityrelated activities, translating engineering manufacturing and quality requirements - assuring that customer quality-imposed technical
requirements are adhered to by supplier/CM and that a supplier quality system is maintained.
The SQAE will conduct programs designed to improve supplier performance, productivity, and process validation. The selected
applicant will monitor quality control activities and systems at suppliers, CM’s, and subcontractor facilities, and maintain feedback loops reviewing and analyzing corrective action reports and non-conforming reports in an effort to reduce and eliminate defects.
The selected applicant will have demonstrated experience successfully leading projects resulting in measurable improvements
(continual in-process and preventative). The engineer will maintain appropriate project documentation including project charter, progress
updates and final reports.
Key Responsibilities:

This candidate will need first-hand knowledge of the electronics manufacturing processes in order to effectively negotiate with, and
manage, manufacturing partnerships. Will be expected to understand and manage OEM and Contract Manufacturer Suppliers.

The individual must be able to develop Key Performance Indicators, KPIs, for Quality, and On Time Delivery monitoring, continuous
process development, and Cost of Poor Quality data to identify recurring trends and drive improvement actions to reduce internal
and external failure costs.

Detailed knowledge of the shade/motorized shade industry or similar contract manufacturing environment. Familiarity with the
mechanics, installation, and manufacturing of all type of automated shading solutions, and or fabric manufacturing including but not
limited to roller shades, woven woods, leather, synthetic fabrics, polyesters, olefins, and drapery tracks.

Detailed knowledge of varied manufacturing processes, including but not limited to metal forming, die casting, powdered metal,
plastic (resin, injection molding), springs, wire/cable forming, PCB manufacturing, electronic devices/components, and stampings.

Participates in the selection of new suppliers “Supplier Selection and Development program (SS&D), supporting purchasing to obtain
the best value components in relations to quality, delivery and cost. In addition - to developing and championing a stage-gate
approach to the launching of a new or revised product with suppliers to ensure
o PFMEA/DFMEA type of activities have been conducted
o Project timelines established are progressing
o Process control measures have been established and implemented prior to production start
o All pertinent testing and durability trials have been conducted

Develop Supplier Quality Program aimed at achieving customer/supplier quality improvements through LEAN/Quality tool
implementation programs at the supplier facilities and develop and conduct On-Site Supplier Audits and New Supplier Surveys to:
o evaluate new supplier potential
o to establish areas of improvements needed prior to awarding of business
o evaluate supplier processes to ensure consistent manufacturing methods are being employed.

Build relationships with suppliers & CM(s) to ensure that purchased components meet specifications.

Ensure suppliers adhere to quality requirements and that supplier quality systems are maintained.

Drive continuous improvement of supplier’s quality, cycle, and delivery performance through utilization tools such as Six Sigma
DMAIC, FMEA, SPC, 8D Root Cause Analysis and Lean Manufacturing concepts - with follow-up responsibility for Supplier Corrective
Actions when requested by Quality Assurance.

Optimize process capability on significant characteristics through effective application of statistical analysis techniques and training
of Suppliers in problem-solving. Provide expert analysis, guidance and support to Suppliers in Process Improvement

Work effectively with engineering and manufacturing teams to eliminate any barriers that may affect the quality and delivery of
sourced components and apply knowledge of inspection equipment and techniques to provide timely data usable for informed
decision-making.

Assist plant based Quality Assurance and Product Engineering in developing incoming inspection documents, and modify existing
component specifications for the purpose of improving processes and products, ultimately driving supplier actions to verify
component and process quality at the Supplier’s location to reduce/eliminate the need for incoming inspection activities.

Participate in new product introductory teams.
Position Requirements:

Minimum of five years in the Supplier Quality discipline (electronics manufacturing, Contract Manufacturing and or Shade
manufacturing (or similar) industry

A dynamic personality style with the ability and willingness to promote appropriate change and improvement

General familiarity with electronic manufacturing equipment.

Experience in Six Sigma and Lean methodology; certified preferred.

Must be open to travel as needed (25% -50%)

Solid understanding of receiving inspection processes including statistical sampling, component measurement techniques,
specifications and drawings.

Excellent problem resolution, judgment, and decision making skills required with thorough working knowledge of Quality systems
methods and practices (DOE, PFMEA, Control Plans, Lean Manufacturing concepts, DMAIC, Root Cause Analysis, etc.).

Ability to manage multiple projects and priories concurrently.

Proficient in spreadsheet (report formatting, graphing, formula a calculation generation), database, presentation and project
management tools (i.e. Excel, Minitab, etc).

Ability to read and understand assembly drawings, schematics, block diagrams and Engineering Change Notices for the purpose of
specific inspection criteria and evaluation.

Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented
environment.

Proficient with a personal computer and selected software applications including Outlook, Word, and Excel, Access, PowerPoint.

SAP experience preferred but not required.
Education and Certification Requirements:

Minimum: Bachelor’s of Science degree from and accredited institution in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, or
Equivalent Discipline)

ASQ certifications preferred but not required.
