Outdoor Learning
We are currently developing an outdoor Learning area to the rear of the school. This will be a
very exciting space where different types of learning can take place to enhance our
curriculum. I have attached a copy of our plans for your information. This is already well
under way with clearing work being done by our Duke of Edinburgh volunteers and the
orchard being planted on Monday by a group of our S1 pupils. If you feel you could help
with this project you would be very welcome. We aim to open the Outdoor Learning area
after Easter.

PE Facilities Upgrade
We have been advised our PE changing facilities will be extensively upgraded in May. I will
advise you all of the final plans once I have these.


Positive Behaviour Management Policy
We will continue to work with parents with the Growing Confidence program which all our
staff are currently engaging with. This promotes positive relationships with students and give
strong strategies based on current educational and physiological research. Our current S1
parents had an evening on this earlier this session and we now have our second group of S1
parents taking part in the Growing Confident Teens program. We are delighted to be able to
expand this to all parents with a launch session on the 1st April. More information to follow.
Free Microsoft Office for Students
The Digital Learning Team have had a number of enquiries about the exact terms and
conditions of this licence, including some parents asking for access to the software.
They have clarified this with Microsoft and they say this software is being provided for use
by the licensed user only (i.e. the pupil), not for other members of their family.
Microsoft Office is now available FREE for all Students (P3 upwards)
All students can:
1. Download the latest version of Microsoft Office (for Mac and PC) onto up to 5
computers at home.
2. Make full use of the Microsoft Office apps for iPad.
See General Resources page under Pupil section of school website for details on how to do
this.
In-Service Speaker
During our in-service day on Monday 5th January we had a guest speaker, John Carnochan.
John spoke to us about how positive interventions throughout a young person’s life can
change their outcomes significantly. He gave some really powerful examples and a lot of
food for thought. Some of our Parent Council members joined us for this and have suggested
we share his links with the wider parents group. John’s website is:
