Dear parent,

Kyson Governing Body

Our new Chair of Governors is Mrs Karen Moodie and new Vice Chair is Mrs June Cowles, both were unanimously voted in to office recently by the Governing Body. We are very grateful to both for taking on such responsibility and for the immense contribution they make to the leadership of our school community.

We are also delighted to welcome three new Governors:

Mrs Cara Murphy (Mum to Mason and Brooke),

Mr Richard Porritt (Dad to Ruby and Kit)

Mrs Annette Raw (former Kyson parent).

Look out for the new Governor newsletter which you will receive at the end of each term. Governors intend to outline their involvement in the continuing improvement of our school.

Sporting Success

Congratulations to our Y3 and Y4 football team who recently came 2 nd in a pyramid tournament.

Molly Conor James Josh Ashton Max Oliver

Brilliant teamwork children!

EADT School Ratings

Yesterday, the EADT have published some Local Authority data which lists all primary schools and gives them a colour rating. This rating known as the RAG rating (Red, Amber, Green) was devised based on raw data collated by the Local Authority to aid them in allocating their resources and support. The information was shared confidentially with Headteachers and Governors earlier this year but is now in the public domain following a freedom of Information request by Archant (the publishers of EADT and the Ipswich Star).

The RAG rating does not take into account the normal array of factors that external organisations such as Ofsted take into account such as; year group size and characteristics or individual children’s starting points in entry into school. It is vital that the rating is not seen in isolation as it can be open to misinterpretation without the broad body of information and data that every school’s Leadership Team has.

Kyson was rated Green according to the LA analysis and is on an upward trend for school improvement.

“Pals” (Parents Learning Side by Side)

We would love to hear from any parents who would like to join an informal coffee, cake and chat group with Mrs

Hardwicke and Mrs Walker. Last year a group called “Chatty Mums” met weekly to chat together about all sorts of things but primarily the challenges of parenting. We would like to re-start this group in January with “Pals” meetings on Thursdays at 2.30pm ish. If this is something that interests you please let Mrs Hardwicke or Mrs

Walker know or telephone the school office.

Milk at School

Our children are encouraged to drink lots of water at school because they all know it’s great for healthy bodies by energizing muscles, helping concentration, ensuring a balance of fluids in the body and helping to keep kidneys healthy. In the new year, there will be another healthy option available at Kyson.

Would you like your child to have a small carton of milk during morning playtime each day at school?

Children under 5, already have FREE milk at school but the opportunity is now extended to children and young people up to the age of 18 and payment will be part subsidized by the Rural Payments Agency (a body of the EU).

If you are interested, Cool Milk registration forms are available in the school office. You will need to complete your child’s details and then manage your payments online. You will be able to pay for either a half term or a full term using an automated telephone line, via the website, by cheque or taking your invoice to a local paypoint facility.

The milk will be delivered daily to school and each week we will access the “drinking list” to know which children should receive milk.

Yours sincerely
