Dear Parents
Geography residential trip to the Dorset coast
Friday 10th July 2015 – Monday 13th July 2015
As part of the pupils GCSE Geography, we will be carrying out coastal field studies to enrich our
students learning. I have planned a residential trip to the Dorset coast from Friday 10 th July 2015 to
Monday 13th July 2015.
The field trip will allow us to collect the relevant data and use the required data collection skills to
answer the controlled assessment question ‘How successful are the coastal defences in your chosen
area of study’?
The field centre is Leeson House in Swanage and we have a wide variety of activities booked which
address a range of coastal topics within the exam specification, such as; coastal uses, features, erosion
and management techniques.
We will leave school at 9am on Friday 10th July 2015 and return for the end of the school day on
Monday 13th July 2015. The trip will be non-school uniform and requires practical outdoor clothing and
shoes. An equipment list will follow with details of our activities and contact information.
The cost of the trip is £250 with a £50 deposit. The remaining cost can be paid in instalments which are
required by the following dates:
30th April 2015
£100
30th June 2015
Final payment of £100
Naturally, you have the option of paying in full beforehand should you so wish.
Please complete the permission slip below should you wish your child to take part in this visit and
enclose the deposit of £50.Should you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Yours sincerely
