Homecoming Committee Positions
The Homecoming Committee is a division of University Union overseen by the Homecoming Coordinator
and is supported by a professional staff advisor and graduate advisor. The committee consists of the
Homecoming Coordinator, who chairs the committee, and the positions below.
Court Chair:



Coordinate all aspects of the Homecoming Court application, interview, selection, and
competition process
Plan and implement the Court Brunch and game day activities during the Homecoming Game,
including half-time activities and the crowning of the King and Queen
Facilitate the involvement of the Homecoming Court in all of Homecoming Week’s activities
Parade Chair:



Plan and implement the Homecoming Parade
Communicate with student group and other Parade participants
Facilitate Parade engagement among Athens community members
Special Events Chair:


Plan and implement Bulldog Bash (Homecoming’s Kick-Off Event)
Plan and implement at least one additional event such as Dawg House Party, a movie night, or
something new!
Major Entertainment Chair


Plan and implement Lip Sync Competition.
Plan and implement the major entertain for Homecoming week such as a concert, comedian, or
something new!
Organization Outreach




Brainstorm and implement new ways to get the word out about Homecoming Application to
organizations in order to increase participation; this may even call for reorganizing the
Homecoming Application.
Plan and contact organizations about Homecoming Application information meetings.
Plan and implement the Chalk Box service project.
Create the art wall that goes up the week before Homecoming week for promotion to student
body.

Spirit Chair:




Oversee the UGA Spirit Squad – a group of student volunteers for all Homecoming Week
activities
Facilitate the engagement of student organizations, university offices (Alumni Association,
Athletic Association), departments, and schools, and members of the community in
Homecoming Week activities
Plan and implement Street Paint and Banner Competition
Manage Spirit Point Competition among student organization participating in Homecoming
Week activities
Homecoming Committee Expectations






Execute position responsibilities in a timely, organized, and professional manner
Attend all weekly committee meetings during the Spring 2014 and Fall 2014 semesters
Communicate regularly and promptly with the Homecoming Coordinator and Advisors
Attend all Homecoming Week events and activities, and support the events of other committee
members
Serve as an active and contributing member of the Homecoming Committee
Represent the University of Georgia, University Union, and Homecoming Committee in a way
that reflects the professionalism, tradition, and spirit of Homecoming
