Inivata: non-invasive tumour analysis from circulating DNA
Career Opportunities at Inivata Ltd, Cambridge, UK
Inivata is a dynamic new clinical cancer genomics company, based on the
Cambridge Biomedical Campus, which is harnessing the emerging potential of
circulating DNA analysis to improve testing and treatment for oncologists and their
patients.
Unlike conventional invasive biopsies, Inivata detects and analyses genomic material
from a cancer patient’s cell-free, circulating tumour DNA (ctDNA) which can be
collected through a simple blood sample. This non-invasive approach – a ‘liquid
biopsy’ – offers a revolution in how cancer is detected, monitored and treated.
Computational Scientist position
For the analysis of sequence data, the optimisation of the technology, as well as for
the high level interpretation of the results for the development of ctDNA driven
therapeutical decisions in collaboration with Inivata's clinical partners, we are looking
for a computational researcher with skills centered around database management
and statistical analysis. We expect that most applicants will have a prior experience
in the fields of bioinformatics and/or cancer genomics, but we also welcome
candidates from different fields. Another relevant (but not essential) qualification is
the development of customer facing web-based interfaces. While we are primarily
interested in these specific areas, there is flexibility for the exact profile and
experience of the applicant, provided that he/she can demonstrate his/her qualities in
the general area of computational biology and motivation to join a new company in
the field of cancer genomics.
Successful candidates will have:


Experience in analysis of large scale datasets, ideally but not necessarily, for
high throughput DNA sequence data, with some experience in statistics
(Essential).
Demonstrated experience in data management and database architecture,
typically SQL, but other database management programming tools are
possible (Essential);

Development of web based interface to present and share data with
collaborators and customers (Preferred).
Candidates will be expected to be creative, capable of working both independently to
progress work with minimal supervision, in a team-oriented environment, and have
excellent organisational and time management skills.
In return, we offer a competitive incentive package, including pension, private
medical insurance and a company share option plan.
Please note that candidates must be legally entitled to work in the UK. No agencies
please.
Please send your application, including a covering letter with your CV and an
indication of your salary expectations to: careers@inivata.com quoting:

The closing date for applications is 17 October 2014.
