INFRASTRUCTURE SERVICES MANAGER
Port of Napier Ltd is a top tier New Zealand port with a vision of being the key port in central
New Zealand. Strategic priorities are driven off customers, safety, teams and sustainability.
The Port has a 24/7 workforce of 175 staff covering commercial, logistics, marine,
engineering, driving, trades and corporate roles.
The Infrastructure Services Manager is a new role established to:
 Provide high standards of professional leadership to a complex and large scale
infrastructure development programme (upto $150 million over the next 10 years).
 Lead development of capability in governance, project and management functions to
support the programme.
 Augment management (governance, programme, maintenance, financial, contractor) of
our infrastructure and assets.
 Provide expert financial stewardship – to establish the budget, aggressively manage cost
and expenditure, and maintain appropriate levels of reporting.
 Providing infrastructure solutions to company issues and;
 Work closely with internal stakeholders to manage the impact of the programme on the
wider business, minimising business interruption.
The role reports to the Port Services Manager and is a member of the Port’s Management
Group and Strategic Development Group. The Manager has a workforce of 9 Engineering
and Maintenance staff as well as Engineering Contractors. Direct reports include the Senior
Engineering Technician, Engineering Technician and Carpenter Foreman.
KEY PRIORITIES
Key priorities include:
 Establishing the Port’s infrastructure development programme (marine and land) –
scoping, sequencing, resourcing, risk and contingency planning.
 Execution of the Programme, enabling it to be executed within the demands of a busy and
dynamic operating environment and financial constraints.
 Oversight of property maintenance services.
 People and performance management of engineering and maintenance staff.
 Supporting the company’s goals of a Zero Harm workplace through a Just Safety Culture
 A culture of continuous improvement and internal service

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Demonstrated expertise and experience in:
 Leadership of all aspects of significant capital programmes
 Advanced expertise in engineering - preferably in an operational environment
 Chartered professional Engineer with either civil or structural background
