Curriculum Team Member Job Description

Curriculum Team Mission: To develop a dynamic and diverse curriculum that attracts and engages our members and our community.

Working within the Team Mission, Curriculum Team members support the OLLI mission by providing educational opportunities to its members. The Team is responsible for maintaining a strategic focus which aligns with the Division of Continuing Education’s vision and annual plan.

Curriculum Team Members are liaisons to OLLI Instructors, being the primary point of contact between Instructors and OLLI. The Curriculum Team maintains a current list of all Instructors,

Courses, Dates Taught, Liaisons, and applicable notes. The Curriculum Team operates within the OLLI Governing Guidelines.

Curriculum Team Members will:

- have a general working knowledge of computers, and/or a willingness to learn to work with various basic computer programs such as Word, Google, and the Internet. Computer training is available within the team either formally in a class or one-on-one.

- currently have, or be willing to obtain, a GMail account

- currently have, or be willing to learn to work with Google Drive as most Curriculum Team documents are held in the Drive (training is available)

- be willing to work in a team environment

- be willing to work in small working groups on a specific tasks, i.e.:

- willing and able to work towards consensus

- have the ability to follow-through and see a task to its conclusion.

- be assigned a group of instructors within a specific category for whom they will act as liaison with the Curriculum Team and OLLI staff.

As Instructor Liaison, each member is responsible for:

- having a working knowledge of the OLLI website, especially the Instructor sites so that they are able to assist the instructor when the need arises

- keeping their Category Lead apprised of status and issues with their instructors

- seeking assistance from their Category Lead when the need arises to avoid out-of-control situations

- maintaining the Master

Instructor List with updates to their Instructors’ contact information and teaching status

- maintaining a working knowledge of all tools available to instructors

- contacting their instructors in sufficient enough time to gain a commitment to teach in Fall,

Winter, and/or Spring/Summer Terms

- actively engaging with their instructors to assess the courses they teach, suggest changes, and suggest or entertain their instructor’s ideas for new courses

- working with their instructors to assist in course description, instructor biography, and form submission via the OLLI website

- following-up with instructors prior to class start to ensure they have everything they need

- reviewing the end of course evaluations for their instructors, and forwarding and discussing the evaluation with each instructor

- working with instructors who receive negative feedback to suggest changes to correct deficiencies

- making recommendations to the Curriculum Team on the feasibility of keeping instructors who may have received negative feedback

- staying in touch with instructors during the term via: class visits/observations, and email and/or phone calls

- documenting conversations, keeping emails and other documentation as required

- maintaining open communication with their instructors

- assisting in any way they can to ensure instructors are informed and feel that their efforts are valued by the entire OLLI organization
