HSA Meeting Minutes
April 16, 2015
This month’s meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm by HSA Co-President Nicole Stasio.

Secretary’s Report
Meeting minutes from the March 19, 2015 meeting were presented by Nicole Stasio. After review a motion to
approve the minutes made by Jamie Lommock and seconded by Nancy Jaeschke.
Treasurer’s Report
2014/2015 Treasurer’s reports presented by Nicole Stasio:



Balance Sheets (as of March 31, 2015)
Statement of Cash Flows (July 2014 – March 2015)
Profit & Loss Budget vs. Actual (July 2014 – March 2015)
Motion to approve Treasurer’s reports made by Nancy Jaeschke, seconded by Jamie Lommock.
Principal’s Report (Mr. Kircher)



This week marks the first week of PSSA testing:
o ELA (grades 6, 7 & 8), Math (grades 6, 7 & 8)
o 4/21 – 4/23
o 4/29 – 4/30 Science (grade 8)
o Make up dates are 4/20/15 & 4/24/15
Solar car races (Mr. Farrell) are currently scheduled for 4/27/15. The teams (two) are hoping to
conduct the races on the tennis courts between 12:00 pm – 12:30 pm since they need the noon sun to
power the cars.
Spring Concerts are scheduled as follows:
o 6th Grade on 5/5/15
o 7th & 8th Grade on 5/6/15
o Spring Orchestra on 5/7/15
There are discussions of possibly breaking up the concerts into separate concert events for next year –
chorus only, instrumental only and orchestra only.








5th Grade Parent Orientation on 5/11/15 at 7:00 pm.
5th Grade visits to Keith Valley:
o Crooked Billet, Pennypack & Simmons on 5/14/15.
o Blair Mill & Hallowell on 5/18/15.
DARE Graduation to be held on 5/15/15.
8th Grade dance to be held on 5/29/15.
Coffee Hour with the Superintendent held on 4/10/15 from 9:00 am – 10:00 am with eight in
attendance.
June 2nd marks the 300th anniversary of Hatboro. There will be a mini museum of Hatboro set up the
library along with a 30 minute black & white film shared by the Millbrook Society. Discussions are
ongoing about 7th grade students doing a walking tour of Hatboro in the 2015-2016 school year.
The KV Fun Run 5K was held on 4/11/15 with 61 runners and raised $1000.00 for Lou Gehrig’s disease
and Cystic Fibrosis.
On 4/10/15 a check for $55,000.00 raised during this year’s KV Challenge event was presented to the
Make A Wish Foundation.
Teacher’s Report – 6th Grade (Miss Condit)





Informational blasts will be sent out regarding PSSA testing.
6th grade students will be watching Percy Jackson as a conclusion to the module unit on Friday 4/24/15.
Portfolio review dates for each team:
o Six Black 5/7/15
o Six Red 5/11/15
o Six White 5/12/15
o Six Grey 5/14/15
Wax Museum dates:
o Thursday 6/4/15 - Periods 2 & 3 (Whiteside & E. D’Alonzo) and Periods 5 & 6 (Condit & Budilov)
o Friday 6/5/15 – Periods 2 & 3 (Condit & Budilov) and Periods 5 & 6 (Whiteside & E. D’Alonzo)

Teacher’s Report – 7th Grade (Mrs. Whiteside)


7 Grey will be heading to the Camden Riversharks baseball game on Education Day 6/5/15. The team
will also be visiting the Jarrett Nature Center on 4/22/15 & 4/23/15.
We are psyched and ready for PSSAs!
Teacher’s Report – 8th Grade (Mrs. Boyle)




The KV Challenge check assembly was held on 4/10/15. A check for $55,000.00 was presented to the
Make A Wish Foundation.
End of year events/privileges (8th grade dance, Dorney Park, picnic & promotion ceremony) were
presented to all 8th grade students on 4/10/15. Money & permission slips are due the week of 4/27/15
– 5/1/15.
PSSAs in process.
8th grade solar car races on 4/27/15.

16 JRA (Jewish Relief Agency) students packed 2700 boxes and delivered 53 of the boxes to those in
need.
Old Business







Spring Fun Night - 3/27/15 – 170 tickets were sold with a profit of approximately $1012.00.
Giant A+ Rewards – final total for this school year is $6355.69 which is $1000.00 more than last year.
Joe Corbi’s/Clair’s Gourmet – The board has decide to continue with Joe Corbi’s versus Clair’s Gourmet
and are looking at a February/March 2016 fundraiser for the new school year.
Spring Spirit Night – at Penelope’s Frozen Yogurt on 3/31/15 with a profit of $60.00. A “Back to
School” spirit night may be held at Penelope’s in September.
Staff Appreciation Luncheon – scheduled for 5/6/15. Planning is underway and volunteers secured.
8th Grade Promotion – details to follow.
HSA Executive Board Elections – elections were held for the KV HSA Executive Board for the 2015-2016
school year. The newly elected HSA board is as follows:
o Co-President – Erin MacEntee
o Co- President – Helen Falguera
o Co-Vice President – Shawn Kent
o Co-Vice President – Tim Rawlinson
o Cash/Banking Treasurer – Jamie Lommock
o Financial Reporting Treasurer – Debbie Allison
o Secretary – Michelle Schwartz
o Web Administrator – Deana Quigley
New Business




5th Grade Spirit Wear Sale – a blast will be sent out regarding the sale for current 5th grade
students/incoming 6th graders. There will also be a Spirit Wear table set up for the 5 th Grade
Orientation on 5/11/15.
Committees that need Chairs for the 2015-2016 School Year:
o Box Tops
o Scholastic Book Fair
o 6th Grade Field Day
Vote on Monetary Request for School Safety Features – Mr. Kircher has made a request to the KV HSA
board for monies towards additional safety features for the school. The new safety features include
protective safety glass which has a protective tinted layer which prevents the glass from shattering. It
would take more than 3 minutes to break. The KV HSA board voted and approved a donation of
$2000.00 towards the additional safety features.
Additional Spring Spirit Night – being held on 5/18/15 from 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm at Nave’ Frozen Yogurt
in Maple Glen. KVHSA will receive 10% of sales. No flyer needed. Attendees can win a $20 gift card.

The next Keith Valley HSA meeting is scheduled for Thursday, May 21, 2015 at 7:00 pm in the KV library.
