Home & School Board Meeting Minutes August 27, 2015 Attendees: Mrs. Louise Sheehan, Principal of St. Dorothy’s School Mrs. Patricia McGee, Teacher Representative Mrs. Donna McGann, President of H&S Board Marie Pat Romano, Vice President of H&S Board Eileen Mulholland, Treasurer of H&S Board Jennifer McAnally, Secretary of H&S Board The old Home and School board was at the meeting. The meeting started with Christine Tassoni discussing that Jennifer McAnally has access to send from homeandschool@saintdorothys.org Christine will also get Jenn access to upload meeting minutes to the home and school page on the website. Donna McGann asked Christine Tassoni if she was the only one with access to the home and school mailbox. She said yes, but that all on the new board can have access if desired. Stefanie Meno had Eileen Mulholland to her house over the summer to go through the budget. Stefanie gave the new board a quick review at the meeting. She discussed which accounts need to be separated, and gave us a listing of upcoming expenses in the early 2015-2016 school year. Mrs. Sheehan asked about the dollar figure for updated Reading textbooks for 4th, 5th, and 6th grades. Christine Tassoni said Home and School agreed to $10,000 in the July meeting. The fall assembly will be the Franklin Institute. The subject is weather. This will happen on October 30th after the Halloween Parade. Donna McGann will double check the timings. Mrs. Sheehan will update her newsletter with the change in time for the parade. The parade will start at 12:15. The winter assembly will be the Prismatic Show. This is scheduled for December 23rd. Donna McGann will confirm timing on this assembly as well. For Octoberfest, the new board needs to identify what spirit wear we currently have in stock and determine what we need to purchased. Christine Walton suggested creating Octoberfest T-shirts again. They were a big success last year. She also gave us the vendor that they purchased from. Jennifer McAnally asked Mrs. Sheehan if there was a way to automatically update parents when the calendar is change. Also, the group discussed cleaning up of H&S distribution group. Mrs. Sheehan was going to ask George to export her contact list, so both lists are the same. The old board asked if there was anything else to discuss otherwise they would still be available if any questions arose. They were then excused. Donna McGann brought up H&S fee. The board would like to drop this fee. Mrs. Sheehan asked that we would still fund insurance for the IPADS. The board agreed. Market Day is out of business. It was bought out by a World’s Finest Chocolate Donna McGann had gotten some information as well as samples to taste. YUM! https://fundraising.worldsfinestchocolate.com/ This chocolate fundraiser will give us quick money at the beginning of the year. Eileen Mulholland asked about Swiss Farm fundraiser. Do we have a code for the mobile app? She will contact Swiss Farms to get the information. The art teacher was going to pass on Kids Kreation this year. She believed it was too rushed to complete before Christmas. Suggestions were made to push it back to until Mother’s Day. The board will bring the suggestion to the art teacher to determine her interest. Teacher start up fees have not changed in many years. Currently each teacher gets $75.00. The board would like to double this starting for the 2015-2016 school year. Each full time teacher will get $150.00 and part time will get $75.00 The idea the board had for a fall fundraiser was Trunk or Treat. This will occur on Friday October 30th. The group will need to finalize all the details. A. What time? 6-9 B. Cost? $15 C. How many cars? Roughly 200 D. Additional kids? $5 E. Food? Pizza, hotdog F. Drinks? Water, soda, juice G. Theme? H. Haunted Halls? The board would like have Stocks pound cakes as an additional fundraiser. We would like to schedule two days if possible. Marie Pat Romano will check on the dates we can get.
